Exciting! Will keep a wilba shaped space in bank account next month then…

Wilba is vaguely shaped like the Loch Ness Monster.

Been watching this for a while, definitely going to pick one up when it hits GB stage. Would love to see some proto pictures in the meantime.

Thank you for sharing these renders! I was thinking about HALT with WOB, and now I’m all but certain. Looks so nice.

That red looks amazing.  I'll probably throw my name in the hat for one.  I am curious how much of a dust magnet those heat sink edges will turn into.

black is red is safer since black case have more keyset choice. For red/black, wob and jamon is the best bet

I willing wish I'm in a better financial situation so I can afford this one...

It is exactly the colorway I have been going after; plus it's designed by Wilba, QC and produced by RAMA like a dream team.

It goes really well with GMK Demonic or some Black on Red caps.
Wishlist: 1) nice thick Alps caps; 2) Cherry profile POM;

Wishful-list: 1) We order from keyboard-layout-editor.com; 2) usable Trackpoint module for all keyboards

Yeah I'm not seeing an option to choose plate colors.  Does this mean that the plate matches the case color?

EDIT:  Let me guess.  If we want a different plate color, we would need to buy an extra plate?

Yes. You can buy red plates separately, pricing on the extra plates is really good though.

They all come with BEAM color, which is silver.  Other colors can be added separately.

disappointed that the plate anodization options are not part of the standard offering. To me, one of the main draws was the case and plate having the different anodizations on them (black on red and red on black in particular). I guess i could pay the extra and get a second plate but I'd much rather pay a small upcharge for an anodized plate in the base offering.

The thermal PCB don't support ISO, wilba have mentioned that u can use a  zeal60 PCB or WT60-D PCB by mekanisk.

These are the 2 confirmed PCBs by wilba that's support a JST connection for the daughter board.

Ouch.
Is this the price of partnering with Rama? With new collab brand comes extra markups?

Are you being serious?

30 USD is more than reasonable for a plate. I'm pretty sure even for a tray-mount 60% which is arguably the most ubiquitous custom keyboard build, I've seen plates priced like this or even higher.

The zeal60 is a fully packed PCB with in switch RGB SMD´s and a ton of options. The WT60-D Is much more bare bones with no support for LEDs or RGB SMDs but support the most common layouts and ISO

Yeah there are both out of stock atm. But the WT60-D should be restocked/available for pre-order soon  :thumb:
https://mekanisk.co/collections/keyboard-parts/products/unannounced-product

What i do hope to see is a Thermal bare bones kit at RAMA´s shop, so us ISO users don't get stuck with PCB´s and plates we cant use.

An extra 30 bucks just for an anodized plate?

Except I cannot just pay the difference. With this price structure, a customer is forced to buy an extra plate ON TOP of the included BEAM plate if they want that signature black-case-and-red-plate look.
The seller phrased it as “extra plate for a different build”, but let’s face it, most people don’t need that extra plate, especially if they pick the hotswappable PCB.
So yes, I have an issue with Rama and/or wilba using a dark pattern design here, driving customers to pay more for stuffs they don’t need.
The #1 comment on the Reddit thread right now is people wondering why they have to buy an extra plate ffs.

I assume this may make it easier for packaging, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
And to be fair, if I'm looking at the same reddit thread, there are 18 comments total and the top one has 3 points.

I think Thermal is one of those boards where buying more than one plate would be wise because you will see the plate color through the vents, compared to other boards where the plate won’t be seen.  Plus if you plan to use many different kinds of keysets you don’t want to be stuck with just one look.

Are you handling the logistics for what could possibly over 1000 boards yourself or are they? If they ship with the beam plate by default rather than allowing you to choose, which happens with a bunch of other sellers/designers too not just Rama/Wilba, then obviously there is a reason behind it.

Whenever there's a raffle/FCFS sale people complain that they aren't gonna get a fair shot at the board they want and bring up the issue that all GBs should be unlimited and everyone that wants one should be able to buy one, so when Rama goes and does that with his buys people complain that they can't mix and match every single component without "paying the difference". Go stalk and handle the factory who's producing 1500 keyboards yourself, inspect and QC that EVERY SINGLE PART that people chose that is different from the "default" is where it should be, then once it's shipped to you do it again and package everything nice and neat inside a beautiful little box.

Skip out on 3 bigmac menus and cough up the $30 for the extra plate that you want.

I’m just here to say that the YouTube teaser for the Thermal is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen for a group buy  :D

... There are literally 3 plate colors, 2 if you don’t count the default BEAM one.
That qualifies as “too many SKUs” to you?
And please, don’t make it sound like SKU management is some sort of extraordinarily hard feat that few others have any idea about. It’s a normal part of any business making physical stuffs. I know because I work in one too.
Yes, I’m expecting more from Rama, because unlike others, they are running a business here, not a hobby project. It’s literally their job.

I don’t like buying things that I don’t need and will just leave lying around my house for no reason.
Surely I don’t need to justify that?
