[IC] GMK Green Tea
« on: Wed, 20 March 2019, 01:51:49 »
215665-0

215667-1

Hi everyone! Back in 2014 I worked with PMK / Signature Plastics to have Green Tea produced for their group buy page.

It was an ABS doubleshot set in DCS profile.

If you are interested, and have any special requests for this round please let me know! If this gains traction I will contact GMK.

215663-2

Base kit
Modifier kit for ANSI (and ISO?)
Alternative spacebar kit (for 7x etc)

Heh, not my style personally.

That's a pass for me chief, sorry.

But how can you go pbt with GMK? If you want dyesub you have to go for Epbt no?

I'd love this [actual GMK]!

I'd like to organize a group buy for a PBT dye sublimated Green Tea through GMK.

However, is the above an accident?

Edit: Removed a question that I overlooked.

I love the colors. Dye sub PBT is definitely a plus in my book, but GMK is ABS only right? You'd have to do reverse dye sub too for the white on green?

Also, I would most definitely be in if 40s compatibility is offered.

Interested, but I have a few questions.

Can we get renders of the planned kits?  This is a big factor for me.

Does gmk even do pbt?

Absolutely. I have the DCS version and a GMK set in lovely ABS double shot would be right up my street.

Def worth working with a vendor and some proxies to get the kits set up and to help with logistics. Given this is likely to be custom colours, the MOQ will be 250 - but the great news is you can send GMK some of the original caps for colour matching.

In terms of compat def look at how some of the modern sets are structuring their base kit - some larger base kit examples like Calm Depths show what can be done on a cost per key basis - sets like Jamon show what can be done to reduce cost to a lower price but with more limited compatibility.

I’ll get **** for saying this, and these are just suggestions - but as an ISO user I’d love to see support for it as well as HHKB and 1800. For me this set will look really nice on those larger boards with a numpad etc.

Definitely in. Key sets with this matcha theme/color palette are scarce, and I’ve definitely tried looking to buy the DCS version in the past to no avail. Might even wanna consider SA. :^)

I am interested but I suggest you get enough compatibility -- I think a good way to do compatibility was Taro -- same way of doing base + spacebar kit +  novelties!

I second this!

I’ve always liked this colorway, so definitely interested! I’d love to see the novelties stay as well.

Yeah there is definitely interest in this. You can utilize GMK standard colors in order to achieve lower MOQ. The colors would be AE, CC or 2B and for white legends CP or WS1.

Does gmk even do pbt?

Yeah I know GBs are infamous for people getting their orders years later... I'm sure it's harder to run one than it seems so I'd prefer to work with a company to guarantee timeliness and all the other technicalities.

Preciate you!

No Numpad???

This is just an idea at the current stage. I do want to make sure everyone's able to get the kits for their preferred layout, but I don't want to feature a ton of extra kits that may not meet moq. Numpad is probably a go so long as there's enough demand. During the original run at pmk, the numpad kit luckily just barely met the moq

One of my absolute favorite DCS sets. Really excited to see this in GMK. I would just look over some well run GMK sets to get a feel of normal compatibility offered in their base kits and work from there.

I'd be down for this! DCS Green Tea is one of the first sets to really catch my eye when I got into the hobby. TBH though I'd much prefer prefer a GMK set over DCS. DCS is to thin for my liking & the pricing pushes me completely away from them.

The whole covid thing got kinda crazy with school and stuff. I'd consider running this in the summer possibly if there was enough interest still.
I have never collabed with GMK before though, so it would be a learning experience for me. With Signature Plastics, I simply rendered the idea in Illustrator (first time I ever used Illustrator) and picked the colors from the Signature Plastics page. They did all the work for me.

Running through GMK is a little bit more hands-on it seems, and to organize a big GB like this would be a huge undertaking for me. I'd want to do it the right way and not keep people waiting on their orders forever.
