Got a KeyCool 87 with clears through classifieds.

Took off the caps it came with (girlfriend thought it was fun, until she realized I didn't just want to remove the letters, lol).

Threw on my blanks.

And photo op with my new computer I just built yesterday. 7 years was a long time coming.

How does it feel?  Those are the next step up in stiffness from Blacks right?

So far I like it, these are very stiff but still have the tactile bump, basically a heavier clear with not quite as much bump. But still enough bump to not bottom out.

They have almost a pingy sound at times sort of like BS but obviously not nearly that loud, of course that might change as they wear in, I'm not sure.

I'm thinking I may change the modifiers back to clears or at least the shift keys :D

I'm not sure how they compare to blacks.

I'm not sure how they compare to blacks.

Clears are already heavier than blacks, and these are heavier than clears…

So I suppose they're really closer to greens?

To me Grays feel heavier than Greens, but only by a little. I think that Greens are the heaviest switch I can type on comfortably. Grays are too heavy.

Yeah from what I remember about the greens, these are definitely heavier.

And as much as I like 'heavy' switches, i can't image going much heavier without having some sort of variable layout and only using the really heavy springs for certain keys.

According to the DT wiki greens and greys have a 80 cN actuation force however as has been discussed before the click versus the tactile bump will make that 'feel' different.

You should look at the switch as a whole--not the springs.  On the whole, Clears are lighter than Greens if you don't bottom out.  It's also easier to type on Clears than on stock Blacks.

The grays have a lesser bump than clears -- How do they compare to the brown 'bump' ?

For me I really don't feel a bump with browns.

That is a WYSE replica. The GB for this set itself was somewhat 'closed' here on GH, but you can get WYSE sets relatively cheap from old boards :)

Trying out some typewriter dye sub PBT keycaps.  They are light gray in tone and in dimmer light actually match fairly well (but you can definitely see the inconsistency in color in bright light)

Brown + Magenta on pale creamy gray:

Orange-Red doubleshot legend on the <- arrow cap:

The "CODE" cap is dye sublimated.  These would be cool on a 60% board.

the fonts/symbols on the side of the keycaps; are they pad-printed / dye-subbed / doubleshot ?
