[IC] GMK CYL Metro System

GMK CYL Metro System

Hey everyone.

Inspired by the work of Massimo Vignelli, the keycap set is an ode to the metro's iconic aesthetic and heritage.
Current plan is to run it with GMK using UV print (for the keycaps that need it).
I'm open to adding more kits.

Thanks for the support.
Special thanks to Oblotzky for the renders.

Any chance to work in some 1.5u Super or at least imply it with moved A?

Duplicate [`~] key.

Maybe a Harry Beck inspired one in perhaps white or Night Tube blue next time? :P

Duplicate [`~] key.

I will fix that.

Definitely, I will consider two base kits and see the cost difference :thumb:

This is legitimately awesome! I'm usually not into "playful" sets at all, but this is one is gorgeous! Please consider an international set for that.

Could 1u Fn key use the same design as the F13 so it was “F” on that white circle? the other keys of that nature got a new design.

Buncha sets (Crème, Balert, etc) recently have not sold me a corresponding deskmat. Hope this has one.

This set is a banger - love that you are going with GMK but would be next level if they were in the Neue spec

Is the base CR black or a dark grey? Doesn’t change me buying just curious.

pls no, let that be limited to MV’s keysets

that font belongs on a fisher price set and the mod legend placement is awful

Love the colorway and theming, would love to see some 40s support in an optional kit.

Any chance of connecting with WMATA to get official approval or logoing for a DC / DMV / WMATA kit?

I can't overstate how much I want a subway/transit inspired keyset so I hope this comes to fruition in some way. However, I personally would have had the route icons be on the alpha keys instead of the modifiers and had either text or some other abstract symbol on the modifiers along with (or maybe exclusively?) the line designs.

Just a heads up, in kitting: No R2 PgUp, duplicate R2 PgDn. Board renders have R2 PgDn, R3 PgDn.

Fixed :thumb:

Also, here are 2 F-row variants:

I think it's interesting to differentiate them from other mods. Interesting, but not necessarily necessary either.

I’d use either f row. I kinda like the top one better

Back to the base kit: I know backslash is an alpha and not a mod. Feel like despite the difference in, uh, zoning, if the backslash had a metro print on it connecting backspace to enter, that would be cool.

That seems to break with your convention of "no invisible sharp turns between keys" ; )

I definitely dig this. The metro system is cool but if there is a chance it can be connected on both the left and right mods. Very convincing theme for me. I rather go all in for a theme like this.

I love the set- however, I would like it if the 2.75 right shift pattern was somehow transposed onto the 1.75 + fn key. Or even put it onto the 1.75 shift only and leave the "circle s" not to break the continuity.

This will keep that beautiful theme through the right side for Tsangan + split right shift 60s and TKLs.

Fresh idea! Not something I'd use personally, but the theme is spot-on and original. I hope to see it make production!

Totally in for this one. Great work Biip as usual.
Just came back from Japan and this reminds me big time of their train lines!
