If you have to look down at the Alt Gr key to know what key you're hitting, how are you going to know what key the alt is supposed to be tied to?
I don't think that's the point he was making. He's saying Alt and Alt Gr end up having the same legends, yet they do different things.
And you completely missed my point, too. It makes no difference if the key is marked Alt or Alt gr. If you need to look at the cap to know what it's supposed to do, wouldn't you need to look at the rest of the caps to know what they're doing, too?
What does that have to do with anything? By that logic you could have Ctrl on Alt and Backspace on Tab. It's about the aesthetic. No, I don't need to look at the caps. But unless it's a kit filled with novelties I'd like my A key to say A and not X.
You guys... are you really trying that hard to miss my point? Alt is just two letters away from Alt Gr yet is a completely different key - so putting Alt on Alt Gr just feels wrong. It's so close but yet wildly incorrect. I'd much prefer a blank key or like "blah". Yeah, I'm a bit anal about it - so what... As I said, something completely different would have been better.
Like lol what, "there are no tertiary legends".. ok... how does that change anything? That doesn't magically turn the Alt Gr key into Alt. You still.. ah I give up.
Really the attitude here... now I know... Was expecting like "oh I didn't think about that" instead of this faux elitist condescending attitude. Really surprised by Oblotzky
