After looking more into 40's, I'm wanting one more (alot more versatility than I expected - gotta love layers and macros).

Would you guys have any recommendation on where to get a good 40% ortho ? Currently I am only seeing stock on drop's planck.

I would recommend a split 40% ortho, such as the let's split, kyria, or corne. However, I started with a regular 40% ortho, namely a Niu mini from kbdfans, I like that one better than the planck since it is top mount, nice case, and maybe a 7 degree angle, it is also the same price, and is usually in stock. The thing ppl dislike with the Niu is that it has mini usb. But again, I would recommend a split, I'm typing this on a let's split, which is super nice, a regular acrylic sandwich case!

Edit: here it is,

Edit2: Here is a good list of split keyboards, https://github.com/diimdeep/awesome-split-keyboards

i've been developing a new 40% case design with a large bezel, called the yui40. I held a mini gb for 5 units and it was a lot of fun, and a lot of learning.

It this actually usable? Having 5 keys as mods, I presume there's some chording going on for actually getting more out from the keyboard than just letters?

No this is definitely now my daily keyboard, but I tried doing a whole school project with it and it wasn't that bad (I flashed it with a layout that I like and got used to it)

Reaching the spacebar is a bit hard at first, but you get used to it. And yeah the layout is quite complicated with a lot of tap dance :)
