So, I made some keys.
« on: Mon, 21 April 2014, 15:01:44 »
I bought some resin and gave it a try. I had a lot of fun!  I still have a lot to learn, but I feel like sharing what I have done so far. My ultimate goals include making keys with a porcelain-like finish, and also copying the spacebar from my Leopold 660M keyboard. (The keyboard has a non-standard spacebar attachment, and it is hard to customize or replace.) So, here is what I have done!

I made everything except for the space bar. I'm working on a mould of it next. I'm also making some sculpted geometric keys. The feel is almost identical to the Leopold keys. Maybe a bit lighter. Every aspect of the texture was duplicated I was amazed. The flower itself is a smooth part of the key. It's an inclusion when I get clear resin I'll do more with this.

Those look good.

Not really a flower guy, but I have always thought that a "Refresh" symbol for the F5 would go over well.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Here are a few more. I'm casting a mould for the kitty today. Still experimenting and learning a lot.

Today I was busy!

I like the "mountain keys" best. As soon as my legos come I'll try a spacebar.

So I made some new designs. The new clay has opened up many new options. I'm STILL waiting for my order of legos. I really want to do a space bar but I need a suitable mold box.

Well, here are my new keys. Much more functional than the last batch.

Decidedly wicked.

How sturdy can they be for actual long-term use?
