[IC] LZ-MX GH
« on: Mon, 23 September 2013, 12:20:58 »
LZ MX GH  information:
We would need at least 40, but I would probably cap it at 50 like the LZ-GH. Also note that the total for shipping the LZ-GH came out to about $65 after getting it from Korea to the US, and then from the US to everywhere else. I would really like to have Orange as a color option but I need to ask LifeZ if they can do that, but the gold color isn't too bad.

CASE:
Looks like LZ-GH style. Possibly with deeper engraved name on the back.

PCB:
PS2AVR MX-MINI
PS2/USB Combo(color white)
with EXT Module ( PS2/USB Converter)
Bottom Row
1.25x 1x 1.25x 6.25x 1x 1x 1x 1x 1x (WK)
or 1.5x 1.5x 7x 1.5x 1.5x 1x 1x 1x (WKL)
Controller parts soldered, f/w up, without diode

Configuration and Pricing

LZ MX GH
Basic Set - $328(without tax and delivery fee)
1 x case (top, bottom, Foot bar)
1 x plate (wk & wkl combo)
1 x PCB (PS2/USB Combo)
4 x bumpon (silicon)

Option
plate : $34
pcb : $44

Choose color
case : Black, Silver, Blue, Gold, Metal gray, Light Pink

Plate Color : Black, Silver

I am VERY interested in this.  Considering I was going to buy an MX-Mini and design a case for it, this may be a better option.

A couple questions:

1. Does the price include switches, stabs, etc?
2. Does LZ do assembly or do we assemble?

The set does not include the PCB?  Just double-checking.  Currently it says that the basic set is case + plate + case feet.  So the full set of everything would be the basic set + PCB, $320 + $44 = $364?  (Plus switches, stabilizers, diodes, etc.)

Mx se isn't programmable, but this one is with a different PCB and at the cost of a extension.

It's not photoshopped sir! I think something messed up and they had to go deeper for some reason. Maybe first one made of batch? No clue!

Well if it's going to look like your pics you provided, then count me in for this baby.  Of course if it's being made by TeamREDLINE in Korea it must be shipped to GON for him to piece it all together for me  :thumb: .

Are you going with the steel bottom plate with the mirror finish and the heavy steel bar?

Will there be an option with lighter anodized aluminum bottom plate and feet like these http://www.kbdmod.co.kr/product/detail.html?product_no=26&cate_no=12&display_group=1 ?

Is it possible to have acrylic switch plates instead of aluminum ones?

It would be like LZ-GH with heavy bar, probably mirror finish, and aluminum plate. I don't like acrylic plates because if it breaks then you are screwed.

Interested, just would need to find somebody for assembly. :D

I could do that for you.

Daniel is this gonna have the acrylic middle layer shown in the keyboards here: http://lzlife.tistory.com/entry/MX-MINI

That would be soooo sick.

acrylic plate is nice until it breaks and you realize you now no longer have a functioning plate for your $300-400 keyboard and your options to replace it are slim to none in addition to being really expensive. So in short no it will not have an acrylic plate, it will be exactly like LZ-GH just in the 75% layout. I think the previous LZ-MX used the same case design as the LZ-GH so this is sort of a remake of that except probably with the mirror finish on the bottom, and possibly a high end sticker to apply not unlike the LZ-SE. Those are details I need to work out still.

1 x case (top, bottom, Foot bar)
Excuse me, but why does there need to be both a top and a bottom? If I were you I would construct it like a Poker, with only one piece + foot bar.
I would think that what you are after is to sandwich the plate between top and bottom, but ... would that really make a difference to having a plate screwed firmly to the bottom?

Waiting to see if the LZ-MX GH could be done in the same case style as the LZ-FE. It may be awhile.

If there is a 50 orders limit like LZ-FE then I'd rather not see it done that way...

I sent you a PM, Deaniel. Not sure whether you got a chance to read it.

However, as I've never even done anything other than swap in/out keycaps, I fear I would need some sort of assembly.

You might also checkout the Keycool 84 or the ChocMini, i like those layouts a little more because the function keys are directly above the number keys. But yes, in regards to Korean customs, there are not many. The GON Mx Mini, the LZ-MX and maybe a couple more floating around.

The case design is not settled yet. Daniel referred to the new LZ-MX kit as LZ-MX FE, and the only clue of what that could look like is a classifieds post by LifeZ, which is quoted below. Daniel also mentioned in a PM that "It is in very early planing stages". So, who knows.

So would this be another redline group buy?

I wanted to run it and just use them as the manufacturer. Communication is extremely difficult. I asked if this was still possible and LifeZ asked me how many we would want. I replied to him in minutes and that was April 6th. No reply yet when I told him 30-50+ would be interested.

As far as appearance I'd be cool with the LZ-MX SE style, LZ-MX, or LZ-MX FE with some slight tweaks. I like my GON 75% and it is pretty ideal for me, but I do want something a little heavier and solid on my desk. The LZ-FE I built was amazing but I don't like 80% layout so I sold it. We'll see what happens but if LifeZ doesn't contact me back we can't proceed.

Maybe if more people tell him to get back with me he will see there is interest and we can make something happen.

I also kind of want to see what kind of work a local anodizing company can do here in Orlando. If they do good work I'd almost be interested in getting everything non anodized and do it all local. That way we can keep it cheap and if there are any scratches during shipping they can be fixed before anodizing, and then I'll make sure every individual keyboard is packed appropriately. That may not work for international though since it may be cheaper for those people to receive their packages directly from South Korea. Just an idea I had though.

Whoops, could've sworn it was a different PCB.  My LZ-MX Mini is native USB as far as I can tell, and a bunch of GON's boards that I've seen need the little extension module at the end for it to work over USB.

Crap, didn't see the 75% part.  I'd still say the Gon route then.

I'm not sure if there are any other threads regarding this, but if there is still any interest in a LZ Mini MX 75%, then I'm definitely in.

It's a perfect in-between choice between the poker and TKL.

Maybe something changed recently but last I heard LZ was banned for scamming a lot of people out of keysets or something like that. Another 75% custom is being planned by Duck here: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=60293.0.

That is unfortunate to hear. I would still like to get one of their keyboards.

I checked out the Duck, and unfortunately its design leaves much to be desired, since it isn't as minimalist as the LZ-MX, and has a steep angle that I don't prefer.

That said, thanks for the link. I hope we can still somehow acquire/GB these keyboards.

LZ team is gone. Not just away from GH, but the whole keyboard community. At least that's what I heard.

All of Team Redline was banned from sales on here, including LifeZ and GirlDC.  I doubt you'll be able to convince the mods to unban them unless they repair the rep of their group elsewhere first.

Well, my understanding is that DrugER of Team Redline was running the DSA dolch group buy and a while after collecting all the payments he ran off. At this point it was too long after payment to file a case through Paypal. Supposedly he even moved house; the people who knew him IRL said they couldn't contact or find him.

In the meantime, SP started production of the sets before receiving payment (wat) so they sold them on their site to recoup the costs.

DrugER was also trading fake clacks and I think there was reason to believe that he was producing them.

LZ and GirlDC never did anything (to my knowledge), and were banned by association.

I wish we could get the ones with the slanted 7G style wrist rest...
I don't use my 7G anymore but I still use the wrist rest for my novatouch because the slant is so perfect.
