Final Update

New RAL 230 20 20 Prussian Blue sample

- I'm happy to announce that GMK Prussian Alert will use the same new RAL 230 20 20 color sample that will be used in GMK Prussian Blue.

- People asked me to do a few Shadow White & Mortar Grey sample photos in indirect natural daylight (indoors), here they are:







- All renders are updated to showcase the darker Prussian Blue sample and the new kitting changes. Of course, remember these are just renders, and it's better to refer to the sample photos (Which can be tricky too sometimes since colors naturally shift in different lighting conditions, but it’s better than referring to renders).

GB date:

It will happen in November as planned if GMK Prussian Blue runs in 2025. If GMK Prussian Blue runs this year, I will postpone the GB of my set since I don’t want both sets running close to each other. More info is coming soon.

Kitting Changes:

Base Kit: Added R1 1U Pause in Prussian Blue and R5 1U Fn for 1800 layout support.

Extension Kit: Added R5 1U 00, R4 2.00U Shift, R5 1.50U Function and a 2nd 2.00C and 1.00C Spacebar.

Alpha Kit: Added R1 1U Esc in Prussian Blue for better flexibility when building two boards with Base/Alpha.

Alertless: No Changes.

Other:

- Added Numpad sub-legends.
- Scroll and Num changed back to Scroll Lock and Num Lock.
- PgUp and PgDn changed to Page Up and Page Down.
- Alt Gr changed in Alt Graph for the 1.50U-sized key.
- Fn changed in Meta for the 1.25U-sized key.

Hello good lads, this is my first keycap IC.
This set was inspired by a keyboard friend of mine whose favorite shade of blue is Prussian Blue. He was looking forward to GMK Prussian Blue GB, but it got indefinitely postponed. To troll him, I started designing something with the same blue and a simple idea came to my mind – what about an *insert color here* Alert set? At the same time, I wanted to do something a little different and I didn’t like how it looked with the often-used beige as a base, so instead I ultimately chose to use white and grey.

GMK CYL Prussian Alert uses three RAL Design colors:
RAL 230 20 20 – Prussian Blue
RAL 000 65 00 – Mortar Grey
RAL 000 85 00 – Shadow White

Why is there a forced Alert Bar in the Base Kit?
With the set not being beige, I removed the R1 Mono Bar completely and went straight with the Alert one in the Base Kit (See KKB Violet Alert as an example, which has both in the Base Kit but lacks Numpad and Alice support).
This saves cost and should allow the Numpad, Alice, and R5 support to be in the Base Kit while hopefully maintaining a competitive price. Also, most of the people buying an Alert set want the Alert Bar and not having to buy a separate Alert Kit means less cost to them.

Why no 40’s support in the Base Kit?
With the set being Alert, it doesn’t cater to 40% users so I decided not to include 40’s support in the Base Kit. If you want to put this set on a 40% keyboard there is the option to buy the Extension Kit, where I included the basic 4-Key 40’s support.

Thanks for letting me know what I already knew. You answered your question yourself: I just like the look of Cyrillic subs. Ditching the beige OGs for custom colors is a mistake imho.

You could just add an alert row to the alphas with the appropriate sublegends?

Edit: I guess that wouldn't work with the two tone legends, unless you wanted to use the beige gray or something for the sublegends.

this was one of the fundamental points when envisioning the set as a whole, glad it's being well received. such a defining feature shouldn't be separate from the base kit.
thanks for the advice about the accented window numlock, it somehow dodged my attention too.

btw I don't think the standard beige (L9/U9) would work too well with this set, both colors being a tad too warm for prussian blue. if anything, CP would do the job for the alphas, in case sticking to standard colors could help getting this set closer to production.

my main gripe with the alt alphas is that, in my opinion, cyrillic legends should be swapped and put in primary position, while latin alphas should be moved to sublegends, for mere personal preference. gmk has the molds to do so (and keykobo can take the chance to expand their tooling, in case you're not dead set on the manufacturer lol)

My bigger concern is that GMK Blue Alert R2/V2 has already been announced by Diego/Lightning Keyboards and has been confirmed to be running later this year. I think running both would cannibalize each other set's sales w/ how similar they are.

This is a fun idea. Personally I'd love it if the Cyrillic was the Ukrainian layout instead of the Russian one, but neither of them is Prussian, so whatchagonnado.

I would love to, but I don't think it's ever going to reach MOQ as it's not requested at all. The two Relegendables in the Extension kit are there as a bonus, they act like a sort of Artisan for places like F13 or to use on boards that need R1 1U Backspace for example.

Color matching is always super tricky, although I do think the cooler toned hues of the white and grey you have in your renders looks great as is! I have full confidence that you'll get the right color samples though, and can't wait for this set so I can burn a larger hole in my wallet
