New RAL 230 20 20 Prussian Blue sample

- I'm happy to announce that GMK Prussian Alert will use the same new RAL 230 20 20 color sample that will be used in GMK Prussian Blue.

Hello good lads, this is my first keycap IC.
This set was inspired by a keyboard friend of mine whose favorite shade of blue is Prussian Blue. He was looking forward to GMK Prussian Blue GB, but it got indefinitely postponed. To troll him, I started designing something with the same blue and a simple idea came to my mind – what about an *insert color here* Alert set? At the same time, I wanted to do something a little different and I didn’t like how it looked with the often-used beige as a base, so instead I ultimately chose to use white and grey.

GMK CYL Prussian Alert uses three RAL Design colors:
RAL 230 20 20 – Prussian Blue
RAL 000 65 00 – Mortar Grey
RAL 000 85 00 – Shadow White

Kitting Changes

R5 → R4 bottom row
I know a few of you won’t love this, but most buyers prefer R4 (me included) and I completely understand why. R5 works great on TKL+ boards with 9°+ typing angle, but on smaller boards it can feel awkward.

Base Kit
Removed R5 1U Fn
Removed R1 1U End / PgDn → moved to Alertless (One drawback of including the Alert row in the Base Kit is that proper 1800 support — both Classic and Compact — requires some Alertless keys [Mainly Home and Page Up]. Without them, certain keys above the numpad would be mismatched in color. For this reason, I moved these two keys to the Alertless Kit, as they serve no purpose without it.)

Extension Kit
Removed R1 1U Backspace (rarely used, only really makes sense in combo with BAE Enter)
Removed R3 1.75U Stepped Control (cool vintage touch but Control is a hold key, stepped doesn’t add much practicality)

Alpha Kit
No changes.

Alertless Kit
Added R1 1U End
Added R1 1U PgDn

Why is there a Cyrillic alphas kit? Prussia did not use the Cyrillic alphabet. Its fine if you just really want Cyrillic. Also, by omitting the number row the Cyrillic alpha kit is incomplete.

Kitting looks pretty good. LED NumLock should probably be blue. I'd just put some size labels on the spacebars and the shift in the addon kit.

Thanks for letting me know what I already knew. You answered your question yourself: I just like the look of Cyrillic subs. The Num Row is not there because it would interfere with the Alert theme of the set, but I'm always open to suggestions and if that's what people want I could eventually figure out a way to add it.

Ditching the beige OGs for custom colors is a mistake imho.

You could just add an alert row to the alphas with the appropriate sublegends?

Edit: I guess that wouldn't work with the two tone legends, unless you wanted to use the beige gray or something for the sublegends.

My bigger concern is that GMK Blue Alert R2/V2 has already been announced by Diego/Lightning Keyboards and has been confirmed to be running later this year. I think running both would cannibalize each other set's sales w/ how similar they are.

I have enough beige, seeing a play(albeit a minor one) on the standard beige + alert theme could be a nice change of pace. also a fan of Cyrillic in general.

This is a fun idea. Personally I'd love it if the Cyrillic was the Ukrainian layout instead of the Russian one, but neither of them is Prussian, so whatchagonnado.

I'd be in for the base kit and alt Russian Cyrillic alphas if it ran with Key Kobo.  If it's GMK I'd pick it up in stock only, if it were on sale for ~$80ish and the alt alphas were also available and on sale.

I would love to, but I don't think it's ever going to reach MOQ as it's not requested at all. The two Relegendables in the Extension kit are there as a bonus, they act like a sort of Artisan for places like F13 or to use on boards that need R1 1U Backspace for example.

The lighter gray definitely looks better than the original alert beige. Looking forward to seeing the manufactur switched to KKB. Although the fulfillment date of GMK has been significantly improved, I just don't want to see bent spacebars and potentially crooked modifiers anymore.

Like Foggy said, it's what I'm currently doing. I tried using standard colors and imo it doesn't look as good. The color sampling will take some time, but I'm sure it will be worth it. I will update the IC when I have more news about it.

Color matching is always super tricky, although I do think the cooler toned hues of the white and grey you have in your renders looks great as is! I have full confidence that you'll get the right color samples though, and can't wait for this set so I can burn a larger hole in my wallet
