I would much prefer an extra layer to cover the cutout. I do not want my case open to liquid, dust, or anything else. However, if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit.

Highly doubt liquid is a problem because the case is elevated from the desk with the two 10mm feets. Anyway, I've decided to make the cover up and feets optional.

Finalised on the design, will be creating the Group buy thread soon.

Currently I have a suggestion to do tap and die for the screws instead of having a nut at the back to secure the acrylic sheets. what do you guys think ?

Would a tap and die help make it more compact?

Are you looking for a minimalistic kind of casing or something that is as tall as the current filco/QFR casing? The thickness/compactness of the casing affects the typing feel/experience.

The main aim for the tap and die is to take the nuts out of the casing so everything is flushed at the bottom instead of having nuts sticking out. Rubber feets will be included to avoid having the base come into contact with the table. This address to scratching and possibly water issues, I love my table and my keyboard.

Ahhh I see, and yeah I personally do love the hight and angle of the full filco case (feet up) so something like that would be great. But yeah tap and die sounds all kinda of better, as I do like my desk lol

are we talking about cutting threads into the acrylic for the screw to screw into from the top? Don't you think this would strip out rather easily?

Have you considered a binding post (also called Chicago screw) type fastener? Here is an example

Edit: Steel ones would be even better. The heads of the screw and post still look to be pretty low profile.

I stay busy with work and family these days, but I'm still around, lurking.

I'll go down to the screw factory outlet tomorrow to take a look at the binding post type of fastener and compare it to the nut design.
