Craaaaap.

I just found this thread after getting into MK's recently.  This layout is like my perfect dream keyboard atm - 60% with a split spacebar :D

Is there going to be another GB sometime after this one?

Or alternatively, if anyone gets their PCB and decides they don't want it, let me know - I'll be happy to buy it

Good luck with your boards guys!

I bought two of these pcb and may be willing to sell one of them with my split space plate. Kind of tempted by the banana split board and likely won't need two 60% split space worth arrow clusters. Hit me up when this starts shipping and I will have decided by then which one I want to go with.

What's your priority ? split spacebar or arrow cluster? if it's just split spacebar 60% you can check banana split because in YAS62 you will find blocked corner on both side which there's people who don't like it.

And for R2? sure i will make it again but it will come with mx/alps PCB and less bottom layout configuration. But i will do R2 after i'm done with my project case.

Follow this thread here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=84891.0

It's probably going to have more layouts that you'd be interested in.  The guy has had it in interest check a long time, but is a fantastic GB runner - did an Alps plate run in like 2-3 weeks from signup to delivery...

Banana split has a good branding and more people involved in the IC, but I think YAS is overall a better PCB. With banana split, there is a single spacebar configuration, while the YAS has something like 6 layouts just for the spacebar. Plus, manufacturing is managed in Korea by a reputable long-time member of the MK community. Silent said he originally started his design in response to the banana before they added their arrow cluster, but decided to keep it going bc the banana was also missing the "/ ?" key.
Depends on which layout you're looking for and whether you can get used to a remapped question mark.
Split spacebar layout is becoming more popular these days so if you can wait, I'm sure there will be similar designs coming out that will suit what you're looking for. There are also a few non-custom prebuilt boards out there if you search.

Hopefully, Silent can do R2 YAS. This is a great next-gen layout that doesn't compromise the classic elements of 60%, and I think it should be in everyone's hands. If the IC phase was longer and PCB had better brand image, I'm sure more people would have joined the GB.

I'm not trying to disrespect Silent here, I just meant if the other individual wants their keyboard faster, it's likely the Banana Split will hit GB and arrive at their doorstep before R2 YAS.

I didnt mean for my post to seem hostile, sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just clarifying details from your previous post and passing on some helpful info.
Both PCBs have excellent design and quality, and are also unique enough to appeal to different preferences.

so I'm pretty new to mechanical boards and this will be my first build other than my whitefox and I'd like to figure out how to program it before it arrives.

Will this pcb use tmk? And if so, is there a good beginner tutorial somewhere for a person with no programming experience?

Little late to be asking now, but is the pcb going to be pre soldered or do we need to source or own diodes and controller?

I just assumed all along it was pre soldered but I don't think it actually says one way or the other. The prototype pcb doesn't look to be though which is why I was wondering.

Not in the GB, but that case design looks wicked! Really stands out from the rectangular blocks we usually see.

Unfortunate to hear about the delay. But at least that gives me more time to gather parts for the build.

How are things going with the plate manufacturing?

The delay is unfortunate, but I'd rather have it be prefect and late than buggy but on time. That said, once this arrives I'll be ready to assemble it since I have all the other parts now.

It should work since the YAS is supposed to be universal 60% mount and the case is the same.

That's not a low profile case so your going to have "holes" at the bottom corners.

can you tell the dimensions of the PCB? I'm designing a custom case and I'd like to avoid wasting space. With the exact dimensions I could make it a perfect fit and have the case ready before the PCB arrives.

On the note of cases, for anyone who doesn't have a case in mind or wants to upgrade to a sick 60% case, there's an IC for this keyboard: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=90046.0

The OP says that there will be the option to buy the pieces separately and that there will be an option for different-sized blockers! You guys should hit it up if you're interested :)

then i assume it has the same dimensions like most other 60% PCBs. GH60 for example is 285x94.5mm - i'll plan with that.
