Hello, Geekhackers,this is Crazy Designers from China!

Just like our name, we are a team of crazy designers, and the [CYBERBOARD] is a big project now we're working on. The inspiration comes from the Cybertruck of Tesla.

After we received the last prototype, we are not satisfied for some reasons. and we have been working hard on it

We all know that the LED panel is a really interesting point. The slot to locate the LED panel is so complicated at first place that we change it to be magnetic finally.

When I got the prototype of the cyberboard, I built it with carbon plate and the holypanda switches, and it is just not satisfying me.

So, we improved the structure. Based on top mount, we made some optimizations. For example, we added some silicone to the suspension.

To ensure the typing experience, we tried making a silicone pad specially for CYBERBOARD (current testing).
It can fill the gap between the plate and PCB (as you can see in the photo below )

We are confirming the color options we will finally sell, and we have now received two prototypes —— space grey and black. After receiving all the prototypes (8 colors), we will select satisfactory ones as the final options.

Is it hard to power CYBERBOARD because of the LEDs？
Maximum power consumption of the LED panel will be limited to 400 mA.

Yes，we make it magnetic so its quite easy to take off

Will switches require extra support legs to fit the CYBERBOARD?
we support 3-pin switches as well as 5-pin switches

Not based on QMK?
We're sorry we didn't say anything about QMK in the first place...we used a close source MCU, please check the GH thread or discord announcements for more info

I have seen the wrist rest in your early renders. Can we buy one if we want it?
Sorry we won't make wrist rest.

Is this fully assembled or just DIY kit?
It's a DIY kit which means keycaps or switches are not included.

Cyberboard is not based on QMK. We did not have the ability to handle QMK transplantation at that time, so we used ready-made commercial solutions-we used [SN32F248B] as the MCU. This MCU uses close source firmware with independent intellectual property rights.

How are you handling the led matrix pcb wise? I'd assume you're using an LED driver as usable (with qmk compat) commercial mcu's don't have enough pins for the switch matrix and the led matrix.

The lights are just going to be reflected by the computer screen and be annoying. Anyone who buys this is going to have the LEDs on for max five minutes before they are fed up with the gimmick.

With twice as many RGB LEDs as any full-size keyboard, few ports are going to power it. Forget even trying it with a laptop.

The led display seems to have 200 leds. If all of them are at max brightness and on white, the leds will draw 12A. at 5v, that's 60W. I'd like to see how they handle thermals and power for that. But, lets think about a more realistic scenario, lets take a current draw of 10mA for each LED. That's 2A @ 5v, right in line with the USB PD profile 1. If they add a usb pd negotiation chip to the pcb, then that would be possible. A buck converter may be needed for higher current operation, as usb PD profiles only offer 2A max at 5v.

you're right, in that example I got a bit carried away, and assumed that they were using the ws2812b's only.

Yes,- It has many modes, you can customize the pattern, time, wave and other effects.

Not based on qmk. They found a new IC, rewritten the driver, and still debugging.

Here's a pic of the RGB PCB proto that someone posted in Twitch chat last night. Looks like the board's all built up. This means that there are at least two prototypes of this board out there (one gray and one violet).

What color would you call the first prototype? It kind of looks like a bluish tinged space grey to me.
