Some good lubricant.
« on: Thu, 23 May 2019, 12:14:58 »
At the end of last year I ordered some pretty nice switches for my first build. I ordered some Holy Pandas and I know the general idea behind how and why to lube but now my question is... What lube? I've heard the whole grease vs. oil vs. hybrid thing but I was looking for recommendations on a good and available lube for these things.

I've heard that Christo Lube 111 is a good choice as well. Right now it seems to be sold out on most keyboard sites. I'm trying to buy some myself.

I like a thicker lube with stronger tactile switches. The added softness of a thick grease like 3204, 205g0, or GHv4 offsets the harshess of Holy Pandas; also, because they are so tactile, you can lube the tactile bump directly and you will still keep most of the tactility.

Where do you buy those?

Would you be able to direct me to where I could get these greases in the US? I think that I want to try a grease for this build as that will give the lube much more impact than oil from what I've heard.

Also I probably should have asked this before but does is really matter if you use the same lube on the stabs? I see almost everyone lubes the stabs with a different lube and it makes me wonder if it's really even worth it to get a seperate lube for the stabs considering that, well they're gonna be smooth either way.

3204 works well with stabs, but it is recommended to have some even thicker grease for the stabilizer wires. I use Superlube Grease which is pretty cheap - you can get a big tube off ebay for ~$10.

The best oil is Remoil for guns. It is a synthetic PTFE oil. The best grease is synthetic hub grease at an auto parts store. Both are cheap. Both will last forever on a keyboard.

I just recently found out about Triboysis 3204's limited stock so I might be getting some Krytox 204 and switch films for switch mods. Krytox 204 is very similar to Triboysis 3204 if I'm reading into the correct sources and Krytox 204 is also more readily available so if I'm making a mistake here then please let me know.

It should bring great feels of pleasure to my fingers yes? The pushing and in and out of the stem going into it's warm and tight housing?

I get my from switchmod_keyboards (Instagram) he updates you when he is in stock. He just shipped his last order out to customers so I assume he will be opening up again soon.

Is this super lube ok for stabs?
How much of it should I apply?
I keep lubing stabs, but not too much. Should it fill up the whole space in stab slider?
