What kind of battery/extra battery accessories would I need to buy to use with this board?

Any 3.7v Li battery that suits the case you are going to use will do the work. ;)

I am a bit confused. So... does it suppor QMK or not?
The description says it supports QMK, but the guide says the firmware is to be done.
As it is a R2 GB, I found the R1 thread in Reddit and you had written there the board is to be edited only by VIA configurator.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/c4lryd/comment/ez8y2ji
I just want to make sure if it supports QMK now or not. :o

Grabbed one to give it a shot. Am curious, as are others, if it supports QMK.

Cheers!

Although the firmware is not opened for to compile freely at the moment, it still uses QMK firmware.
Scott is working on editing a version of source file for everyone to use.
As it's contains code of BT function, it's not as easy as other USB only PCBs.
Just need some time to achieve it. :)

Thanks a lot! :thumb:

Anyone know any cases that would support this pcb with the bluetooth battery? Or have any pics of a completed setup with the batteries and wiring in place?

I was thinking of this one:

That doesn't have a battery compartment. Look at tofu and 5 degree cases

1) How many Amps (operating current) does it consumes while connected wirelessly at about 1-2 Meters from the PC in a plastic case and all the lights off?
2) Is it possible to be used while the battery is charging ?
3) (Dumb question) Does the PCB detects when the battery is fully charged and stops charging it ?
4) Does it have anti ghosting (NKRO) wired and wirelessly? If yes, how many keys in each mode?
5) The BT 4.0 works on both iOS and Android devices with 4.0 ? Normally there must be a manual switch telling the pcb to which OS i want to connect.
6) Does it need a dongle to be bought separately like the Anne Pro 2 ?

Apologies for making so many questions, but i am really interested in supporting the project.

A full build log also would be nice.

Just noticed here it says 10mA operating current, which answers to my question n1.
So if connected a 2000 mAh rechargeable battery and making the by the formule the division of 2000mAh/10mA = 200hours.
If using 8h/day it means the battery will approximately last 25 days and that imo is pretty good.

Meanwhile another question:
7) How do we turn off the keyboard in order to preserve battery life ? Only by turning the BT switch mode to off ?

Sorry for the late reply

1) 6ma when typing, 1.9~2ma when not typing.
2) Of course, once the USB cable is in, the charging will start and you can use the keyboard as a USB keyboard.
3) There is a battery management chip on board, it will control the charging current and voltage, or it can be very dangerous to charge a Li-Po battery directly by the USB voltage.
4) Currently, the NKRO feature is not enabled yet, it will be enabled by a future firmware update, and I'm quite sure that it won't work in Bluetooth mode.
5) You would check this with your device vendor, as I know, Most Apple devices you can buy nowadays(later than iPhone 4S) will support BT4.0, Android devices after 4.3 will support too, but it might not means all the devices will do.
6) It depends if there is a Bluetooth adapter on your computer. If not, you certainly need to buy a Bluetooth dongle to enable Bluetooth on your computer.

bluetooth is agnostic of the OS its implemented on, so it shouldn't require a switch to pick iOS or Android or etc so long as the device physically supports the version

Would it be possible to do split backspace by soldering the pads ourself? Looks like the pads are available next to the backspace socket.

I know this was awhile ago but came on to check on status for this  GB saw the comment.

I can confirm Klippe R3 won't fit a battery with this PCB :( (I have an R1 version). That being said, I've tried the hot-swap version, you could MAYBE fit one if you had the solderable version? but yea, the clearance is pretty tight; spacers or something to give a little more clearance between the PCB and bottom is needed.

Unfortunately, a battery won't fit at least for a R1 klippe case  :(. However it is possible to still build it with one, but everything would be sitting up and the components wouldn't be entirely parallel to the case due to the battery pushing on the pcb. Personally, I chose to take the battery out because it was not a great typing experience.

ngl but a few things here are more than fishy to me...

First: why the secrecy around the QMK support? Bluetooth support is not a valid reason for this. QMK supports bluetooth of it's own very well.
Second: why are you advertising a bluetooth enabled pcb as VIA compatible when the VIA documentation pretty clearly states that it is not compatible with any bluetooth functions?

we already had a few people ask questions about this pcb on the qmk discord now and we couldn't help any of them because of this.

Yeah apparently they are redistributing a modified version of QMK and an older version of VIA with the board.
Which btw. violates the license of the QMK project since playkeyboard does not provide the modified sourcecode anywhere. :-X

I'm worried about this. I'm on the verge of buying this PCB but I need it to be fully compatible with QMK. Why wouldn't they release the source code for this? Are there any news?
Anyone knows any alternative PCB or keyboard that ticks these boxes:
-Fully programmable

-Wireless
-USB-C

Yup.  Correct voltage.  Correct polarity.
The PCB's still work over USB at least.

Haven't bothered asking yet with everything going on.
At some point I'll pull out my multimeter and try to figure out what I fried.
At present I'm more interested in seeing if it's just me or other people are also running into issues.

2 of the 3 PBC's I ordered let the magic blue smoke out when I plugged in a battery.

Could you please elaborate? Was the battery the correct voltage?

Yup.  Correct voltage.  Correct polarity.
The PCB's still work over USB at least.

Did anyone get you a replacement?

Ah yea,  that happened to me as well with one of my pcbs from them, was a little shocking to say the least.

I don't know if anything important got fried cause I don't know what to look for but when you get around to examining I'd be interested to know your findings.  I did leave it on battery power for almost a full day just to see if anything would happen(under supervision of course) but nothing got hot or anything like that, still works fine over bluetooth. The only thing unusual I've found, when compared to other PCBs is that I can't wake my computer with the PCB but other than that all appeared fine.

Thing still works though, not using it at the moment but was using it for a few months, albeit on USB not battery since I don't have a case that'll hold a battery.

I think I figured out my problem.
The two pig-tails have different polarities and I must have used the wrong one.

Ok, that explains it and relieves me.

I noticed that a little too late as well but in my case I'm reasonably certain I used the right one... :/ In any case good to hear that's all it likely was

Can any G60BLE user confirm to me if I can pair more than a single Bluetooth device to this PCB and switch between them without having to re-pair?
