I'm a bit late too, but if anyone bails, I would love a chance to get in on this. I've decided on either a Das or a Filco and the only thing I don't like about them is that they don't have doubleshot keys like a Deck. So this would be awesome :P

I could possibly give my set to a late-comer if he wants it that bad ... eventually.

We'll see. I doubt Whiterice has finished the order yet. Signature Plastics doesn't even open for another hour and forty one minutes.

It's nice to see that this order went through. Can't wait for the keycaps.

Signature Plastics said it was going to be a couple weeks to get them made, right? So another week for shipping to you and then up to a week for shipping from you to us, at least domestically? (I'm assuming you'll use priority mail $4.90 flat rate boxes in the states, which is 2-3 days- but you will probably need a day to sort everything out).

Hope you stocked up on toner for the labels... with Priority Mail, you don't get free delivery confirmation on the package (and you know how neurotic people are about tracking, myself included) unless you buy the label online. You can buy it, but it's on top of the $4.90 if you get it at your post office (vs. $4.80 for both online).

I am hoping to be able to process all the shipping online. I have a good scale, and someone was kind enough to provide a good guide on customs forms. I will do my best to get everything done quickly, but I will probably need a weekend to sort everything out once the keycaps arrive.

I will keep everyone updated :)

Priority mail international packages under $400 require a Form 2976
First class packages under 16 ounces do not require a customs form; otherwise, under $400 requires a 2976.

You can do them online with the same login you use to make the labels.

Shouldn't be too bad since it fills out the rest for you when you do it.

At a risk of ruffling feathers, why don't you just mail the domestic packages first, then take care of the fun stuff with the international packages?

As one of the international buyers, seems sensible to me.
Keyboards: Unicomp UB40T56 with JP3 removed, Unicomp UB4044A, Filco Tenkeyless Brown (with pink highlights), Access AKE1223231, IBM DisplayWriter, Das Keyboard III, and a few others.

Does anyone know of any scripts or programs that will pull from a spreadsheet and fill in the forms automatically?

Before I write one it would be nice if there was already something out there that could save me some time.

Otherwise I have like 2-3 weeks to write it and test it. Yea once I get that setup it should be a breeze to get the forms done. "Collating" and packing will probably take more time.

So all this talk about shipping was really just a ploy to convince WhiteRice to ship your keys first!

Eh, I withdraw my suggestion. If you can get Signature Plastics to provide you an approximate weight per set you can pretty accurately guess what the weight is going to be (and as long as it's reasonably close they really don't care; you can be off by a few ounces, even if you're not using a flat rate service for the multiple set international buyers). Once you print it you just have to put your autograph on it and paste it on the outside.

That would allow you to get the customs forms done before everything arrived which would make it less hectic once you got them..

Actually, with a flat rate service (US is $4.80, international is $13.somethingcents) you could even get the labels done too. All you'd have to do is drop the keycaps in the boxes and seal.

Haha, it was a suggestion to expedite all international shipments.

WhiteRice lives ~2 hours from me. I should get them the day after he ships them anyways.

When I mailed a Industrial Model M to WebWit it was from Aunty Rippy, had flower stickers on the box, and a "Dear Nephew Study Hard" note in it.

Marked the green form "Gift" and it worked.

I doubt it'll work when it gets overseas. There are a couple of german buyers for instance.

Might be worth a shot though. Just learn some German/whatever language necessary and write it on the box. Ol' Uncle WhtieRice sending everyone presents!

Let's just hope your UPS guy is better than mine with expensive packages.

[coolstorybro]

Well, to be fair, my regular driver is awesome. It's when you get the seasonal/substitute drivers that you run into trouble.

A couple of years ago I got a seasonal driver in late November. I get a UPS package unexpectedly on the doorstep. It was around 12 inches long, 4 inches high, 8 wide. "KEEP REFRIGERATED" was on the side.

So I get it and I look at the address label.
Right state.
Wrong town (not close in name)
Wrong Name (not close in name)
For a company (delivered to residence)
Wrong street (name and number weren't close).

So I call the company that shipped it a few times and I can't get a human being. And the recipient wasn't picking up.

The dentist calls me back two hours later (apparently they shut down waiting for this and didn't think to pick up the phone) and thank me for trying to save $3,000 in dental implants, but for liability reasons (even though I never touched the seal) they asked me to throw it out, even if I could drive there- they had already paid for new ones, since they didn't insure the shipment, and they couldn't risk that I had tampered with it (even though I didn't open it).

So I threw out 3 grand in dental implants because UPS screwed up.

Let's hope Signature insures their shipments!

It's a bit of a gamble, although shipments to the UK from the Fast East often get through untaxed when marked with "gift" whereas the same is much less likely to work when shipped from the US.

The method of paying for it can range widely too ... I once had a pallet shipped from the US where I had to stump up around £300 in cash before the driver would unload it, whilst Fedex would sometimes sent an invoice up to a month later ("Why does Fedex want £1.72 ?").

I'm afraid they would make chemical experiments with those unfortunate key caps, just to determine which sort of poison they contain.

So has anyone translated the reviews of these gray doubleshots at KBDMania.net?

I hear a lot of comparisons to  Dogs and Kimchee?  Should I be worried? My mom is a little prejudiced about Koreans.   She thinks Kimchee smells like wet baby diapers.

Tell me the links to the reviews and i could translate it ( i am from korean origin).... and yes ... kimchi smells a lil bit harsh and is not recommended on weekdays ( otherwise you could get beat by your colleagues/fellow students/mates :brushteeth: , BUT it is definitely one of the most delicious cuisines in the world ( no doubt about that  :behindsofa:

Regarding the spacebar.. if our version only is made to fit on a Filco, it will not fit on a Cherry board such as the G80-3000/1000/1800 series, since those have the stems in a different position. Chance is that the guys from OTD already thought of this and designed the spacebar to work on both boards. So if SP uses the same molds for our order that they used for their order, it might fit. We will have to wait and see.

I am curious as well. Since the key caps are mostly for Filco, would it fit a ducky any chance ? Cause it's also done by Costar i heard :/

@Lanx

I'll bet it's a keypuller too. Hei cause with that many keys, your gonna need it.

Any of you guys going to cancel ? I wouldn't mind taking over your spot for 1 set + international shipping.

Also preferably 2x2 Blank character keys $0.42 each ( to replace my 4 media keys on the Ducky 9008 which has 104 + 4 media keys ). What color is the blanks by the way ?

Is the international shipping 12 or 14 usd ?

Are you from singapore? some of us are sharing shipping

How exactly are you sharing shipment pricing?

Isn't it 12 or 14 usd each for international shipments ?  How much are you guys paying ?

Walrus canceled his order for this so it's not like he could send it along with my Ducky keyboard to me to save on shipping :/
