[IC]Kyūbi Keyboard Kit / Stock Sales Start and GB later

Kyūbi Keyboard Kits

Stock Sales Start and GB later!!
After a long wait and effort, we’re nearly ready with everything needed for the Kyubi GB.,as the title of Alexotos' video suggests, Kyubi has undergone a long 'Journey.' We hope it meets your expectations~ Considering the time Kyubi has been in existence, the fact that the prototype has been approved by many reviewers like Alex and BlackSimon, and the time and money we’ve invested in this project, we are planning to start the GB soon

We plan to start the GB around September 10th, and it will run for 30 days. We also want to sell 75% boards and five switch stocks on our website to boost customer confidence. If you have concerns about the GB, you can directly purchase the Kyubi 75% and switches

However, the GB date is tentative and may be delayed by a few days due to unforeseen reasons, but its coming soon!

Progress Update

(photos by alexotos)
Hello, here is the August update regarding Kyubi.

Overview:

1. The Chinese GB orders for Kyubi are about to be delivered. Production has gone smoothly, and all the switches have been completed. The only remaining steps for the 75 and pad are anodizing and spraying, followed by QC and shipping. Since we've gone through the entire production process once, we feel it's time to start planning for the international GB of the Kyubi kit.

2. Changes to the Kyubi Alice: During the production of the Chinese GB orders, we found that the forging molds for the Kyubi Alice top case were unstable, leading to quality issues. Therefore, we decided to discard the previously made forging molds for the top case and switch to a fully CNC-machined top case. This will obviously increase the costs, but don’t worry, we have not charged the customers of the Chinese GB orders any extra fees, and it will not affect the international sales price either. This might be great news?

3.Another piece of good news is that after communicating with many customers and vendors, we recalculated the costs and decided to remove the restriction of bundle-only purchases for Kyubi. Now, you can purchase any individual Kyubi kit from us or any vendor at a very low price, while still having the option to buy bundles. The bundle prices remain almost unchanged, as follows:

This approach allows beginners to get a more complete experience of the custom keyboard hobby at a low cost through bundles, which was one of our original intentions. It also gives more experienced enthusiasts the freedom to choose the keyboards they want, such as the tented Alice or 75+pad, providing more flexibility. Additionally, whether it’s the budget-friendly pad, which is often lacking in the custom keyboard world, or some previously high-priced switches, we are offering them at very low prices. We hope you will like these changes!

4. We brought the Kyubi, along with some keyboards we collaborated on with friends, to Wuque’s keyboard meetup. Many people showed great interest in the Kyubi and were very satisfied with its sound, especially the tented Alice. Many praised its sound and feel! This made us very happy and gave us a lot of confidence.

Improvements for the International GB Production:

1. Packaging Issues: In the Kyubi sent to Alexotos, the keyboard was placed directly into the foam packaging without additional protection. This resulted in some adhesive marks on the Alice surface and scratches on the bottom of the 75 due to the weight falling off. This is unacceptable. To prevent such issues, we will add a layer of protective film to the keyboard surface before placing it into the packaging.

2. PCB Layout for Alice: Due to layout changes and the inclusion of multiple split positions, the Alice PCB has become somewhat complex. During mass production, we will add silk screen markings at those positions, indicating, for example, 2.25u/2.75u.

3. Review Units: Other review units have been sent to BlackSimon, Keybored, Geon, and others. We expect to receive additional feedback and will make adjustments accordingly.

2024/05/27 update:
Hi Guys, It's been a while since we've updated everyone on the Kyubi project. During this time, we've been continuously optimizing the project's design and manufacturing processes, as well as better managing our team.
1.Currently, we are working on the Kyubi Prototype V2. The Kyubi V2 Prototype has been mostly completed with CNC machining, and some parts are undergoing anodization. The anodization effect of this batch is excellent, achieved through a 220 grit sandblasting process. Feedback from showcasing Kyubi at a meeting in China has been quite positive. We are now awaiting the completion of PCB and outer packaging production to commence advertising.

2.We conducted a small-scale GB in China before the Chinese New Year last year, and the sales performance was very good. However, there were still some issues with the V1 sample. After alexotos' livestream and promotional videos in China, we received a lot of suggestions, such as insufficient precision in machining, oversized internal space for alice, and an excessively large 7-degree tilt angle for alice. To address this, we produced Prototype V2, which solved all the issues.

3.We have decided to adopt an In-Stock sales model internationally before conducting the GB. The quantity of In-Stock units is limited, just for collecting market feedback. This way, everyone can see more authentic feedback from customers, leading to increased confidence in this project. If you are interested in these developments, please join our Discord community.

4.I will create a video next week and release it on YouTube, introducing the differences between Prototype V1 and Prototype V2.

The differences between Kyubi V1 and V2

1. Layout Change:
To accommodate more practicality and differentiate from Typek's layout, after discussions with Geon, we added a compatible layout with arrow keys and a shorter right shift key on the original layout.

2.Anodization has been upgraded from 150-grit sandblasting to 220-grit sandblasting, greatly improving surface delicacy and smoothness.

The spray coating process has become more delicate, reducing from the previous 70um thickness to 40um.

3.The tenting angle has been adjusted from 7 degrees to 5 degrees in Kyubi V2. Testing has shown that this adjustment makes typing easier while also reducing the overall height. The layout has been modified to support arrow keys and includes an additional triple-mode battery compartment.

4.V2 Prototype has added a triple-mode battery compartment, and the weight has changed from the original double-layered weight structure to a single layer. The fox's tail is combined with the case, which can be seen in the modified drawings during Geons' live stream.

Team Change
We have recruited a business manager, Robin, to our esteemed clientele. Robin joins us with a wealth of experience from his previous role at Chosfox Lab, where he earned accolades for his efficiency in handling shipping affairs and community communications.

Robin's arrival marks a positive change for NLandkeys, as he will now spearhead all shipping-related matters and community interactions. With his proven track record, I am confident that Robin will enhance our operational efficiency and service quality.

Why are the prices so low?

1.We have a very strong supply chain and resources. Krytex is our own factory. We don't need to make money on keyboard production, we just need to make money when we sell it. This reduces the cost of production

2. That our switches are very cheap because of their large quantity

3.We have a very high volume of switches, that's why we have to add the sale of switches to every combination of purchases, it's to ensure that we don't lose money on the volume of switches we order

4.We work with switch manufacturers and some of the switches we produce our own moulds that are dedicated to us, so since we invested in the moulds ourselves, the manufacturers will give us lower prices because they don't have to pay extra to maintain them!

5.NLandkeys, formerly known as Aregs Keyboard, is a team that mainly sells shafts, and has worked closely with switch manufacturers such as KTT, JWK, Keygeek, Bsun, Tecsee, Lichicx and so on.
The switches that have been launched in the international market include KTT Grapefruit, JWK Autumn Rain, JWK Lila, Bsun Flower Shadow, Lichicx Caramel Chocolate Switches and so on.
That's why switch manufacturers trust me and give me a very low price, we have a lot of experience in switch manufacturing and a lot of friends

I emphasize the aforementioned points to convey that we will not compromise on quality to achieve a low price. As a testament to our commitment to quality, we will be dispatching 25 prototypes for review. Stay tuned for the results!

Are you saying that the GB price includes 2 boards, 1 numpad & switches for $229-229?

What GBs have you completed previously?

If according to Wuque Studio's definition of "Fully CNC", "CNC after casting also counts as fully CNC", yes they can still claim the boards are CNC'd. Gotta wait and see if anodized color ways are available.

I don't mean to be picky but you did say "right now", and on https://nlandkeys.com/account/orders/ it says "Awaiting Shipping" on my molly60 order.

Did you mean something more like "we begun shipping orders, we expect all orders to be shipped within a week" or something like that?

When you next try to run an exit scam, please consider being a little more subtle. Don't feed us too many lies that we start to think it's too good to be true.

There is no way that we'd actually receive three keyboards and 500 switches for 250USD. One or two boards and 100/200 switches may be slightly more believable for your next scam.

If, in the unlikely event, this is not a scam then I wish you luck with this but won't be participating in this nor any future Aregs project. Very sus.

I think it might be a bit far to straight up accuse them of scamming.

But in terms of this particular GB I would not feel comfortable joining unless they had completed (fully) the rest of the GBs they have run

They're offering two keyboards, a numpad, and 500-count switches for $250. To me, that absolutely feels like an exit scam.

Hey! Totally get why you might think bundling our stuff also they are super cheap seems fishy. But If you really engaged in this industry for several years, and understand enough of the production supply chain you will know that in fact this is not a mirage, for example, you go to the supermarket to buy a bundle sold together in the family package? For example, a whole set of household products, such as laundry detergent, detergent, paper towels, etc. bundled together to the original total price of 60-70% of the price to sell, although the original for the supermarket alone to sell a laundry detergent profit and selling the entire family set of profits earned is almost the same, but because the overall order quantity increased, the scale effect appeared, and this time the supermarket's overall cost reduction, the profit is increased, the keyboard is the same. The same applies to keyboards.
Hope that clears things up a bit!

I agree. But to be fair his molly60 post also looked suspicious. I bit the bullet because it was so damn cheap, and if that board is delivered within the next few weeks and it performs well for its price then I will definitely consider joining this.

I recommend you guys wait with launching this until at least mid january because then people will have had time to evaluate the molly60, supposing it is delivered before 2024.

If according to Wuque Studio's definition of "Fully CNC", "CNC after casting also counts as fully CNC", yes they can still claim the boards are CNC'd. Gotta wait and see if anodized color ways are available.

ahh misspoke - i meant to say cast vs billet.

why sell a budget bundle of a 75%, a numpad and a tented? wouldnt 2 bundles (75 + numpad and tented + numpad) make much more sense?

But if you sell alice + 75 + pad you can mix both lol

I want to see the two boards being offered separately. I don't think people who want a 75 want an alice, and also the other way round.

Also, please add a PCB layout option diagram.

I would certainly never use the 75%, I'd give it to a friend or coworker for free if I buy this package.

how can we know this is real? like how can I trust this enough that if I join it I will know I will receive what I paid for?

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I already lost out 600 something bucks from the Hubble GB as well as other keycap sets with Mechs&Co. So this makes me so so skeptical. I've always wanted a tented alice. I hope you guys run more after this first GB. I guess I feel like I have to see it all come to fruition before I take that risk. glwic

Simon made a video about it, released yesterday. There are some clips of the unit being CnC'd. Price still does not make sense, but you can always wait and get extras.

Hi, for the alice+75+numpad+switches bundle, you said 5 unique switches. Do you mean like literally 5 unique switches for test, or you mean 5x100 unique switches like the alice+500 switches bundle.
