In the span of a single week, I received two conflicting emails from Melissa.
The first stated that DCS Cyan Alert would have no MOQ and SP being lead since the beginning of this project, which was great news.
In about 2/3 days , I received a second email stating that SP will no longer sell anything directly on their website and that standard volume pricing (MOQs) would now apply. Projects from other designers have also been affected.
This decision effectively kills the project.
DCS sets struggle to reach 200 MOQ even with a single base kit. For a project of this scope and complexity to succeed, it would require a complete kitting overhaul and a level of risk I am unwilling to take.
As a result, I am officially cancelling DCS Cyan Alert and ceasing all future collaborations with Signature Plastics.
My time is valuable. I have spent a lot of time on this set. I already have other projects with manufacturers that would offer higher yields, consistent terms and most importantly do not make split-second, project-killing decisions.
What happens next?
1)DCS Dolch will be my final project involving Signature Plastics. It never involved them as a vendor and I will be finishing that commitment.
2)If there is enough demand, I may consider moving the Cyan Alert to GMK in the future.
I refuse to waste any more time on a partner that does not respect the development process or the reality of the 2026 market.
