Introduction

Kia ora and a warm welcome to the interest check for GMK Arcade!

When I got the green light from GMK to run this set, I was beyond excited. Having grown up playing video games and spending time in arcades, this project gave me the perfect chance to reimagine those classics in a fresh way. GMK Arcade is a nod off to a classic theme, revamped with vibrant colours and filled with references to iconic games, all aimed at capturing that nostalgic arcade atmosphere.

A huge thank you to Stellaidscope, Nonumbers, and MikeyDigit for their incredible hard work and support. This project wouldn’t have been possible without them ❤️

I understand where you’re coming from. Unfortunately Nights is off the table and won’t run again through gmk as the designer is out of the hobby. Although saying this, Arcade was not directly and only inspired by Miami nights (I do love that set though), I went and chose the most vibrant colours at the arcades locally and I went through a few drafts before sticking to this format. I hope that gives some insight! Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for your  feedback, currently I’m just seeing how the community responds and based off their feedback I’ll swap to whatever keys are most wanted in the base kit.

I understand and personally like the set (I do have a set of Miami Nights myself). I also know that Oco was very, VERY adament on Miami Nights not being allowed to rerun back in the days. Hope they won't go "sniping" this set. Having said that, Imo the base kit is solid and the extension kit makes sense. I personally like a proper base kit instead of kut down tkl stuff, so if I were to buy this set I wouldn't want anything changed.


As a small side note: while I'm normally a massive supporter of mod colored pipe and tilde keys, when the base of the set is monocolored you may want to cut those to make room for other keys li ke for example the super keys mentioned above.

For me i really like having both in base, however you definitely have a point for including supers in base! I’ll see what we can do

It would be even better if the black 6u spacebar could be moved to the extension kit, so that the accent kit purely as a touch of color.

You make a great point! However I just worry about adding too many keys into extensions as it is already quite beefy. I also think that just having the 6u bar in extensions alone doesn't make too much sense. Thank you for your feedback!

Hmmm its a missed opportunity to me......especially as a die hard Japanese arcade enthusiast

not knocking anyones ideas and hard work , just stating my preference

two of the MOST iconic arcade machines are the Taito Egret 2 and Sega Astro City , and both have very distinct colour schemes...... it could have been a great opportunity for two totally different but great colour schemes. and even within those schemes you could have a player 1 and player 2 variation so lots of scope to play around.

This seems to be just a bright set that bastardises some of the bright colour cues without capturing some of the iconic feel of the retro arcade

any way just my 10cents worth as former home arcade owner.....

Less worried about the inspo than the colors; as Miami's not running again I'm likely on board for this set.
