Sorry, maybe not worth a topic, but what the heck has been happening lately? First, no Ripster, then an ugly avatar returns not worthy of the "Number one Keyboard Expert in the World". I don't think I understand the IRQ thing either but oh well. Who is that ugly guy anyway?
Please go easy on my lack of unimportant knowledge.

Do you have a specific issue or just general irritation from repetition (it's being pedantic, not threadcrapping btw).

Justify it to yourself however you like, but repeatedly spamming your opinions everywhere clearly isn't appreciated.

In the ping thread I said the same thing 100 different ways.  And was proved right since this issue sure doesn't seem to be a manufacturing defect with the Ninja.

So since you were either wrong or off-topic... how is that not threadcrapping?

Hi ripster

I don't think that is 100% accurate. It was clear that some people had switches that sounded different from other switches on their keyboard. You may have been right that this wasn't an issue with Filco or with the Ninja in particular but that isn't the viewpoint that came across in that thread- rather, your point of view seemed to be more "you are all hearing stuff in your head". Imagine the frustration of someone hearing an annoying difference in sound in their switches just to be called delusional.

I think some people have overreacted and have made a lot of comments in poor taste. I commented on one of them in the thread that was deleted. But even though some of them are immature, I don't think every one of these criticisms should be taken with a grain of salt. Some criticisms of you have been made by otherwise rational people (redpill, just for example) and should be listened to and acknowledged. For example your habit of derailing threads when you have nothing of value to add to them- it is inconsiderate to the OP of that thread, and, in other forums people usually appologize for unintentionally derailing threads.

My two cents. For the record I think you're a great addition to gh and your wikis have helped me a lot.

Ignore doesn't help when your antagonistic postings drag a thread out to 29 pages. And, let's get this straight - I enjoy the good stuff you post. Even the spamminess is just ripster being ripster (even if I do sometimes think 'oh, just shut up for once!'). But... well, you know what your intentions are when you make each post, so you know full well why you topped the poll.

Actually I don't derail threads.  If you look at them the pics and videos tend to make a point.

Cut the crap, you might address the post topic with a phrase or a sentence if the OP is lucky, but then it's typically just a segue to post a giant unrelated pic and a link to whatever wiki/post you happened to be working on that day.  Of course you derail threads.

But it would be tolerable if you'd cut the "#1 keyboard expert" crap.  Every single post is about how great Ripster is, it's this self-glorifying forum masturbation routine that just GETS OLD.  I'm hoping it's all tongue-in-cheek but with ~40k posts and two dozen wikis it makes a body wonder.

There are a lot of hobby forums out there, and they usually have someone who knows a lot about the subject matter.  But I've never seen any of them go on such a bipolar tirade that swings from cheeky Lego pictures to cutting personal attack and absolutely endless self-****sucking.  If it's all just an act that you think plays well, then buddy please take some feedback because it's not playing.  At all.  When you get all neurotic about this stuff, it's no longer clever and funny, it's creepy and concerning.  Keyboards are neat and all, but let's face it bro, you're not curing cancer here.

Of course if this is how you really live your life then I just feel sorry for you and I hope that I didn't act as a minor enabler for this mania by donating extra keycaps to your cause.

In the end, there is always someone who is faster, smarter, and richer out there.  Drop the "I'm so ****ing great" routine and 99% of this **** goes away, and we can all get back to discussing our favorite peripherals without sounding like a junior high locker room.

I'd say 1/5th of the posts on geekhack are from Ripster.   The persistent derailing of threads and seemingly off-topic pictures and videos is sort of what makes geekhack geekhack.  This is a mechanical keyboard forum filled with sometimes amusing and sometimes irritating off topic pics, videos and commentaries to keep things humorous.

Oh and for whatever my opinion is worth, I don't think Ripster thinks he's the #1 keyboard expert on the planet, I think he just thinks it's funny to claim it and piss the **** out of some people to keep posting it a huge way.

Ripster doesn't always derail threads.  When he does, it would probably be for the same reason that I think the thread is heading toward the wrong direction.  It is just that I don't bother to reply to state my opinion since I don't care as much as Ripster does.

There were a few threads that I started that Ripster replied.  He didn't derail my threads, and was helpful.  For example, my first Filco red had a stuck key, and I had to open the case and desolder the switch to fix.  He was sympathetic and advised me to used canned air next time.  He could have easily just trolled me and said I was stupid or told me I didn't really have a stuck key because filco is so well built.  But he didn't.  He even replied my PM.

This is iMav's forum.  contrary to popular believe, there is no democracy on a private forum.  iMav can do whatever he wants, even if he take favorites.  He can do nothing or anything.  If anyone doesn't like it, then don't be here.  That's your freedom.

It is all about mutual respect.  And don't take things so seriously.  Enjoy your company.

I just come to say that for me it doesn't matter who is the troll or the threadcrapper but reading Geekhack in the last months have been a bad experience. Every single thread have been derailed by someone and have ended with stupid pics, stupid coments pretending to be funny when they're not and a lot of bull**** to see who have the biggest e-penis.

I'm not too old here but I can say that Geekhack have changed a lot since I started lurking here and after I registered as an user. Many good users have left or don't post the same as the used to do and I'm just sure that is because of the chaos that is Geekhack now and iMav have nothing to do with this, it is some users fault and the big amount of trolling people that came here just to bring bad manners and fight between Geekhackers.

I started to open Geekhack a lot less just because of that situation, a lot of people blaming others in every thread they can, others using bad words, the other one posting unrelated pics everywhere or meme pics too... I'm just getting tired and meanwhile this situation is being like this I will be only reading Deskthority as an interesting forum without crap everywhere instead of reading both forums and losing the time here reading stupid fightings between too many bad manners and some trolls.

The only reason those threads drag on as long as they do is that Ripster denies/ignores the problem and insults the people who got bad boards.  It's a legitimate issue.  If he'd stop trying to deny it and derail every thread, they wouldn't carry on for 30 pages.

It's neither sissy or FUD to expect a quality product after dropping $150 when the competitors tend to be $25-$50 less for a very similar product.

Also, I'll note that occasionally a number of accounts posting positive replies about Ripster use extremely similar terms and typing style.  The previous estimate of 1 in 5 posts on Geekhack being from Ripster may be understated.

There sure are a lot of people going off topic! Sheesh!

What happened is that Ripster won the troll poll by a mile, and flipped his wig.

He cried to iMav, who made troll polls illegal even though there's been many before which included both iMav AND ripster.

Only this was the only troll poll that ripster actually won (and frankly, for good reason).

But the big baby couldn't handle the truth and thus, I was censored.

I think Ripster is kinda offbeat and funny. Isn't his new sig is a kicker? You guys don't think so? I doesn't matter what I think. I cruise this site more than I should, but not as much as many of you do, and I don't see exactly where all the lashing towards Ripster comes from although I see the complaints. Either I don't see what Ripster does that's so terrible, or I don't recognize it because it doesn't bother me or I don't take it too seriously. In any case, I guess I'm lucky. I tend to see the lighter side of things, but I DO get furious...but on a forum???

One thought on this....I am almost all about ergonomic, alternative layout, and some fairly closely related areas as you can see by my posts. Ripster is far too evolved to spend his time in those areas (see? I got a Ripster dig in!) so perhaps we never cross paths enough to send me into a hissy-fit-frenzy?? Dunno, but I would like to see the people that really do contribute to this pretty cool forum, back down a bit, take it in stride, try to see something better in it (or point blank ignore the issue, jesus, it's just a ****ing forum, not your girlfriends vagina), and get back to why you are here in the first place. I bet a bunch of us getting together would get along famously. I've met a few people here. Really neat peeps. This is valuable when it's fun, and completely worthless when it's not.

I'm asking all of you to try and change a tiny bit, and not engage, I think it will ultimately make you happier, and this place a lot less toxic. Be professional.

LOOK AT MY NEW SIG!!!!!

blabbity blah blah blahhhhh

Keyboardlover, I didn't read that poll thread completely.  do you have any prove that ripster asked iMav to close that thread and to add that new poll rule?  If you do, I would like to know so we can form our opinion based on that piece of information.   Thanks.

Also, I'll note that occasionally a number of accounts posting positive replies about Ripster use extremely similar terms and typing style.  The previous estimate of 1 in 5 posts on Geekhack being from Ripster may be understated.

Redpill, was that directed at my previous post here?

Ripster asked for the thread to be closed IN the thread that was deleted.

He didn't ask for the new rule (and I never said he asked for it).

Also, you can see here for what happened afterwards.

Okay, thanks.  So ripster asked in the thread to have the thread closed,  but iMav didn't close it but deleted it instead?  That sounds like it is iMav's decision to delete it.  Did I understand that correctly?

Sure it is, but why delete it and create the rule when ripster was included in several other troll polls? (and even iMav was included in some as well!)

It's only because ripster won the poll, and he *****ed and moaned about it. Now I'm repeating myself.

I don't really like repeating myself.

Okay, I see what you mean.  From you perspective, from here on out, what would be the best possible outcome for you?  What would be the best possible outcome for the GH community?

Well, it appears I asked a rather serious question. I've learned alot here but have not taught much myself. I could certainly be called a troll many times but it was just all about fun. Lets face it...keyboards only involve a certain amount of exitement. I think mixing in pics, videos and other silly stuff (Legos included) has just made this a funner place. Imav has let this forum moderate itself mostly and I appreciate that. Other forums are so very restrictive. Since Ripster has very much built the Wiki for probably the best information on the net...I always cut him some slack. I guess the "Ping" problem has polarized some here and I understand the anger to feel like your product is defective while some won't listen or believe you. I do believe ANY product can be defective.
Having said that, it seems everyone has become more serious and angry about it. Please...both sides...go outside and get some air.

I also just thought...some of my other forums that I've been with for years don't even allow pictures to be posted in the threads. (talk about boring!)

EDIT: I still want the Geekgirl back!
she belongs here...
