Filco rubber feet stick so well they collapse
« on: Fri, 14 October 2011, 12:02:46 »
So, my 104 Filco Ninja has rubber on the feet, and instead of preventing the board from moving, it just makes the left foot collapse. I can remove the rubber from the feet so they will slide instead of collapse, but then there is hardly any traction at all. Are there any quick fixes to the collapsing? It seems like if they were angled just slightly more they wouldn't collapse so easily. It's only one foot, is this a defect?

Filcos suck.  Off-center cases, key caps that go shiny, ping, and collapsing feet.  You should get a refund and get an Xarmor instead.

(No. In fact, it's probably just working too well.  Try putting a piece of rubbery shelf liner underneath it to keep it from sliding altogether.)

I had a similar issue, only the rubber feet themselves would just fall off.  It would have been more effective for the feet to click and lock open, and then more securely affix the rubber.  But whatever, Filcos are the best blahblahblahblahblah

Sucks you are having trouble with such an expensive bit of kit.

Try not using the feet extended for a week and see how it feels.

I used to always use feet but an ergo expert suggested it was part of the cause of some pain I was having and having stopped elevating boards I have been much happier for all sorts of reasons. Now I never use the feet on any board. Flat is far better for me once I got over the initial shock of change.

Doesn't make up for what might be a slightly badly built board but maybe you will find it is the trigger to lead you to a better typing experience by an unfortunate path.

Maybe you have it set up too high.

I don't see how the elevation would effect the functionality, but thanks for the wisdom. I have money to spend on keyboards, unfortunately not desks.

If you wanted, you could lower your keyboard tray by screwing it in lower down (assuming is uses screws).
