How do you guys type so fast on 10fastfingers and those racing sites?

I always misread part of a passage and type the wrong thing ... maybe I am slightly dyslexic 

Reading is an important factor on those sites though. I read around 4 to 5 words ahead of what I'm typing at that particular moment.

Around 140 WPM. I can also type one or two words ahead but then I get alot more distracted when I make a mistake. Except for the fact that I feel forced to use backspace I'm also out of concentration in that case. That's why I prefer to read a little bit ahead, it works for me

I seem makes sense. I tend to be in the 150 area, but one thing that helped me a lot was learning to use Ctrl+backspace to delete the entire word. I should try reading a bit more ahead, as I sometimes get bogged down trying to read the words. Nice tips.

Mechanical keyboards are amazing. I couldn't break 80 before yesterday and I was able to do that with a baby on my lap and only a days time getting used to a different keyspacing and form factor.

I haven't been able to beat 97 yet, I typically get 96 when I test.. so I am consistent at least. I'll have to try some of the tips here, though I generally get going and then think I'm going to break the board as I bottom out hard. I think I need some heavier switches.

Tip that I picked up a while ago, imagine your fingers are light like air when you're close to finishing. It helps keep your presses light and fast.

It's not something I tried a dozen times either...  maybe two or three times, max.  I've never cared much for speed typing sites, until I found out a couple years ago that there was actually some tournament that had a decent cash prize (not great, but...)... so then I spent a decent amount of time on typeracer for a month or so but not much since then.  Doesn't look likely that anyone is going to do a speed typing competition w/ a decent prize any time soon...  well, not for keyboards anyway.  Being able to text rly fast on a smart phone is a lot more meaningful..   

I parked my account on there at 222wpm in last 10 (heavy race selection, obv)...   Didn't do much race selection before that, so the 171 avg is pretty accurate.  I haven't been to hi-games (I think that's what it's called?) in a while, but I'm pretty sure I got something like a 180 on the 30 second typing test on my second or third try.

I seem to be getting about 60wpm on the typing web test with bursts up to 70 about 98-99% accuracy on my best runs.  I don't think I will ever get a lot  faster as I seem to be hitting keys as fast as I am physically capable of.  Of course I could improve slightly if I make less mistakes. Although you don't have to delete the word and continue on it will stop until hit the next correct key which really seems to slow me down.  Soon as i come off home row I lost speed big time.

Been practicing for over a month... I seem to type a bit slower on this topre board than my brown board at home as well, but it sure if great to type on anyways.

I get a sustained like 95-105 and can hit 120/125 on good days on my blues. Something about that rhythmic clicking flow it's like spectacular. But I had no idea the CTRL-Backspace thing was a thing this might literally be changing my life. I used to be around 70-80 but with touch typing my speed went through the roof  . Taught myself to touch type by buying a das ultimate with no labels which forced me to use muscle memory 

Can anyone in the upper 100s advise no how one may be able to increase typing speed and decrease typos overall? I.e. what has honestly really worked for you. When the speed of your thoughts begins to match your typing speed writing is an incredible experience and I feel like I'm close but not really there yet.

My current max is 73.  That's as fast as I can go when everything comes together.  55-60 is what I can maintain comfortably.  I try for zero errors at any speed.  I'd love to be at 90 wpm but I feel like I've reached a peak.  I'm hoping it will come with time.

I suck on regular membrane keyboards.  I don't have to use them much but when I do it does literally feel, like I've seen other say, like typing on a wet towel.  Go back to a mechanical, any mechanical, and it feels rather effortless in comparison.

Another helpful tip is to use ctrl + (left or right) to navigate through words and ctrl + shift + (left or right) to highlight words.  Sometimes there are certain words you want to keep in-between words you want to delete.  I haven't had to use my mouse much when typing up documents anymore.

55-60 WPM. Funny, however, I type equally fast on all of my keyboards. Short throw switches, I feel as if I type faster. But in reality, just as fast as on any other mechanical keyboard I have...hmmm

This is kind of my typing style. Not really fast, but it is comfortable because I make few mistakes. I do type faster in Dutch than I do in English, simply because I spend more time doing that, it is how I started/ learned to type and my fingers and muscle memory are more familiar with the words.

Also, I have to admit, that if you add things like numbers, symbols and punctuation (for example, typeracer). My speed drops A LOT, with about 10 WPM. Though I maintain a high accuracy. I do not hit the wrong keys, I just slow down a lot.

I do not think I would ever type as fast as Sifo for example. I think that at least to an extent, it is an innate skill. My sister spends way less time behind the computer than I. Yet she types at >100 WPM on her laptop's chiclet keyboard, while I type only about 70-80 on my fancy pants keyboards. We both use a traditional normal style of touch typing with barely any difference in the technique.
