I might back out of this GB as well. It's taking too long and I'm moving early April. I need to change my address but he's been MIA for awhile and when he does reply to an e-mail he only replies once with a one word answer.... -___- Idk, maybe I'm just being a cynical *******.

And this may seem like a **** move, but Attarian over at ohmykb.com has a bunch of KBT Race in stock for similar prices. He also offers the limited edition pink and white with pink and white keycaps. I contacted him earlier today to see how fast it would take to get one from him. Also, if you check his Taobao store he has a listing for KBT Races specifically for English speaking countries (the listing says international shipping and the product description is Sixty's review of it from deskthority). I don't really know much about attarian and ohmykb.com but he says he's a KBT/KBC reseller and has close ties to them but I'm not too sure. He could be a decent option for those that missed out on the group buy or, like me, are having second thoughts about going through with this one.

The order has already been placed. Once that occurs, I ask those that want to back out to sell their preorder to another member and send me the updated info for the new buyer. I am not independently wealthy, and thus cannot refund money once it has already been allocated to the order.

This is, indeed, a slow process. I am thinking of doing one more and then re-evaluating whether the headache is worth it to continue them.

Good to hear from you iMav, but would you happen to have a sort of time window for when they're going to be shipped? Dealing with mail at my current shipping address is a hassle due to a combination of an incompetent landlady and the post office. With my plans to move to a different house mid April which I'm not going to know the address of until two weeks prior to moving most likely, and it would be nice to have a concrete time window or handling my shipping is gonna be a little annoying.

I was told they were being mass produced and they will be ready on April 10, 2012. That is what Vortex Keyboards said, so don't hold me to it!

I would agree, and add that this fact is probably not known to anyone new to this type of purchasing arrangement or this website in general, and, as such, it would be prudent to add this kind of information to the original post of this thread and include it in future group buy informational postings, so the timeline created through this system would not be both a surprise and a mystery to the uninitiated.

TL;DR The original post should say it takes 2-3 months or more for these buys to happen, so threads like this aren't filled with people continuously asking for and complaining about timelines, shipping estimates, etc. I just think it would make things easier for everyone involved.

The only reason I say I might be: I don't mind waiting for a Pure, because it somehow slipped the right shift might be an issue (I use it a lot).

What exactly are the differences between Race (which we ordered here) and this elusive Pure? Does Race have littler keys, like an ASUS netbook (for 10yo hands)? Is Pure full size keys, but fewer of them to make it "60%"? That's about as much as I can figure, and I'm not sure I'm right. Something about a right shift too.

When they use %'s like that it is a % of a full keyboard, a pure is like the poker keyboard, there are no f keys. The race HAS f keys. Pure= only the bottom left island of the full keyboard. Race= bottom left island + the esc and F keys. It's answered in the first page....

I'm a big time rookie, but I will have to assume I will want a new keyboard someday. Meaning, if I don't like it I'll just use it for MMORPGs & purchase a more regular layout keyboard (like another KBT Product: Poker/Pure or try out a Filco) for FPS gaming... I bet I'd even get a brown for typing at the library, because I'd like to try reds for FPSs.

I am going to keep my RACE pre-order, and take back my post on page 32 about possibly selling it.

For everybody who wants to know what the difference between a KBT Race and a KBT Pure is and what they look like, simply go to http://www.facebook.com/vortexgear
(this is the official Facebook page of Vortex, a company in Taiwan which is having those keyboards manufactured)

You don't have to be logged in to Facebook, their page is viewable without being signed in. Go to their Photo-section and you'll see several picture sets. They're all interesting to check out if you're a keyboard enthusiast, but they have one picture-set for the Pure and one for the Race where you'll be able to see what they look like, what the layout is (no F-row for the Pure, etc.), how big or small the shift, alt, keys are, where the Function-keys are, and so son.
That will probably answer most questions.

What makes you think that this is anywhere near delivery? The facebük/vortex page just loads an error for me. IMav hasn't made any noise about a shipment, has he? Until iMav sings, I assume it's still over the rainbow. I sure would like to get a Pure though. Smaller is better for some things. :-)

No...the Pure doesn't appeal to me because it lacks functions keys. I'm selling my pre-order because I just bought another Filco and can't see myself favoring the race over it atm.

This forum is bad for my productive time. I was almost set on getting the KBC Poker to complement my Deck Legend, then I find this thread.

I could say the same. I mean I knew it would take a while, but given that the GB started in like November....yeesh (then again, the DS GBs go on for a lot longer). Hopefully the final product will have been worth waiting for.

that's why there's a hesitation on setting eta/commitment for these things. when they're produced over seas and then shipped great distances, the slightest hiccup can cause huge ripples in the arrival date.

that being said, you've got to hope that this means they've focused on the q/c, and the delay will result in an even better product.
