OK, I am not going to beat a dead horse.  I want to find a solution that works for CC and everyone.  Some of you tried the mock survey.  Here is the spreadsheet view after people took the survey to choose what they want to buy.

To me, that is so much easier to manage the data than PM or even email.

I was snowboarding at keystone co when the sale went live. Needless to say I spent the next 2 hours trying to pm cc from my Verizon droid. I got an order in at 6:08pst, not sure if I made the 4grabs cutoff yet, but I'm super appreciative of the dibs sale, thanks cc! You're awesome!

Agreed that if the forum could handle the load, by all means do it they way it has been on GH.  But it isn't up to it.

In case I come across a total jackass, let me walk the talk.  I created a sample survey on google docs.  Try it out.  enter some random text to it.  As many as you like.  Then I can share the resulting list so CC and other potential group buy organizers can see how it might help them to organize GBs.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEx6dlNCNm4yeFZiTlFHV2U2blFJeFE6MQ

I've sent a test .

Oh, and I do actually care about where I buy Click Clack keys from, I don't like them to be sold on Elite Keyboards due to the time they put them for sale

"But it isn't up to it" is a recent manifestation on geekhack from my perspective. We do live in an intolerant "NoW" world though, so that may seem like a bigger deal than it may be. Many things will be changing on all sides.

I don't in any way think you are coming across as a jack a$$, you're just trying to prove strong points from a limited (and reasonably so) perspective while trying to speak for many people.

Your survey would just let people say what they would like to have, not ways of helping organize group buys. Although it may help some, it would unfortunately not help me. I have been collecting info for around two years now and it has greatly helped shape what I do. Your doc would appeal more towards sellers and profit. My direction is not dependant on some sort of critical mass. LoL, and you just changed it, left to right reads better I suppose and it's cleaner now.

I don't have an opinion in the CC debate, but thanks for posting this.  I'll probably use this for future group buys.  Maybe it can help cut down on the PM back and forth due to incomplete orders.

I don't need to prove any point.  What happened is facts.  I am just pointing them out.  I have been running a very large, long, and complicated group buy for Phantom,  and I sold  acrylic cases that I made myself.  My day job also include online service performance.  My perspective certainly is not limited.

Anyhow, if how you do your group buy floats your boat, that is all that matters.  Hope your next sale works better.

It is actually pretty powerful, and it is free unlike survey monkey.  You will need to adjust your "questions" based on how your group buy is going work, like the ability to specify the quantity for multiple items offered.  But once it is set and tested, it really is a piece of cake to collect all the data you need and then you can do whatever you want to massage the data in Google Docs or Excel.  One thing I still need to figure out is how to make it work if someone wants to change the order.  It could also be used for interest check.

super weak, but I'm from the east coast so I'll take anything other than a small icy hill! Apparently they had a week of great snow 2 weeks ago, but that was it this season.  Worst winter for snow in America in a long time.

I'm in Denver so it's good to know I'm not missing out on much this year. Statistically March is supposed to be the snowiest month. Since the beginning of the season was so dry I'm hoping this March is going to be the pay off.

You're right, you don't, and I never asked you to.
What is troubling me  is that your responses seem to be a little bit antagonistic by misstating points (and for what reason? If I misread them I apologize) AND  emphasising a slight bias towards what seem on the verge of being non sequiturs in order to make points based on very, very, very few facts. The only fact(s) openly available is that the site was down for about two hours (though precise reason is unknown), upset some people, and my sale worked despite that, and I have offered future sales to most of those who missed out.  My point is that you don't make my keys, you don't make my equipment, you don't know the numbers for anything on anyside of the equation, you don't have EK as your distributor, you are speaking for a great many people that do not share your opinion, and are reacting strongly to what amounts to a blip on the radar (which at best was a sheer accident, and we learned from it already).

That is what I mean't by "limited perspective", I have no doubt that you handle items on a larger and more impressive and perhaps efficient scale than I (but... that might not be saying much, LoL). I should probably hire you, but I'm afraid the pay would be awful and gnomes kinda smell funny, and you would have to be quite tolerant of them and not point out their shortcomings (get it?).  I'm small, insignificant, and vulnerable, these things play a part in how I direct my pursuits.

I understand your frustration and I am very grateful for your appreciation of my keys and your interest in wanting to help. I will be changing some of my practices and implementing certain things sooner than I was prepared for.

And regarding your last part again-
The sale worked! K, I think I'm a broken record now. The only thing better next time would be that GH does not go down again during it. And I don't believe that it will. I WILL DO EVERYTHING I POSSIBLY CAN TO ENSURE IT! There will be some sacrifices and trade offs but I will do my best to make sure they remain more on my side of the equation.

I guess I'm draggin this out, probably due to my very strong personal connection to all this since I have poured every ounce of possible effort into it that I could. (and i'm a bit loopy from lack of sleep)

In the end this constitutes only a blip. An accidental, unfortunate, coincidental, rare, unexpected, fixable, blip.

tl;dr-
ad nauseum

It's disgusting really to see people price gouging in the classifieds.

If that's an allowed practice, what's to stop people who could give a **** about keyboards and key caps from joining geekhack for the sole purpose of making a quick buck?

Quote from: Roguemaster8;541347
After the PMs went out, clickclack has to go back and send out price quotes to the people who PMed him in time to get a key. And as far as I know, the first ones started going out half an hour ago.

If I get the amount I wanted, I'll sell you one for double the price not including shipping. Seems high, but honestly is the cheapest price you will pay for a clickclack.
