Actually it probably shouldn't.  If you slice the outer insulation off an Ethernet cable you will see that the wires are paired and each paid is twisted.  The way they eliminate the cross talk is twist the different pairs at different twist rates.

DSA goodness (thanks Sai!!):

SDL to USB cable (for my second Model M):

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I have been travelling a bit in the last two weeks.

When I got home, I had two packages waiting, with:
  • Female micro-USB to male mini-USB adapter cables. Two of these will go into my Phantom and ErgoDox. I'm chosing micro-USB for the keyboards' external interfaces because they are supposed to be more durable than mini-USB. From eBay ("hittime_hk").
  • Wyse keycaps from a WY-60, from whiskytango.
  • Cherry plate-mounted stabilisers. 12 of them, from Whiskytango.
I also got a small haul of free stuff from the Deskthority Keyboard Party 2 in Eindhoven the past weekend:
  • A 1987 terminal Model M. I did not have any Model M, and I am planning to bolt-mod it and convert to USB. Perhaps even rebuild it to a smaller keyboard.
  • A glitchy programmable Access-IS keyboard. 6×12 matrix. I may try to repair it.
  • German double-shot Cherry white on black key set with 1.5 modifiers. Incomplete set, but I have the keys to complete it.
  • A pair of Cherry MY fridge magnets.
  • A Cherry MX switch with a clear top.
  • A Round 3 coffee-cup keycap from 7bit's "Round 4" group buy.
  • A ball-point pen with the web address to Mr Interface's consulting firm.
Much thanks to Mr Interface, CeeSa, Kurrk, Ascaii and 7bit for the items! :D

Got some stuff last week and thought I'd share it for once :)

Building a computer for a friend. I got the parts on Friday and couldn't wait so I made it right away ^^ It's fun building a nice computer when you don't have to spend anything yourself :D
30603-0
It has the following specs:
CPU: i7 4770k
COOLER: True Spirit 140BW
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance
PSU: Corsair CX600M
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H
CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R
HDD: Seagate 2TB, ST2000DM001
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 760 GAMING N760 TF 2GD5/OC
DVD-DRIVE: LG GH24NS95

30605-1
30607-2

It is meant for gaming and for modeling/rendering in 3Dsmax. And all for a reasonable budget. I got the total right on the budget he wanted. It was €1100, shipping included. Had to find the perfect store and components to get to that number. I was a bit worried when I saw the size of that 140mm cpu cooler and the width of the case. It really fits to the millimeter againt the side of the case :D Thank God! I did some better cable management the day after I shot the pictures.

I also got some SIGG bottles to try out juicing and a MKC Alu case for my Phantom, when it ever arrives.

You'd think that would mess with the PS/2 signal... But it looks 3 feet at most so it may not mess the signal up enough to matter.

Actually it probably shouldn't.  If you slice the outer insulation off an Ethernet cable you will see that the wires are paired and each paid is twisted.  The way they eliminate the cross talk is twist the different pairs at different twist rates.

It should cause problems because the data and clock lines aren't straight, nor are they twisted like ethernet. They are woven between each other and the power and ground lines. That's not good for the signal... But it is only ~3 feet so the signal can only be messed up so much, I would expect problems for sure at 6 feet. It's short and looks cool so it doesn't really matter if the signal is a bit off if it is still interpreted correctly and doesn't cause any problems. Just don't go making long cables woven like this and expect them to work without a hitch.
