It's such an appropriate response though! I'd be screaming like Darth if I got the wrong stem in a CC sales!

Lucky bastard, you got a Ragerot.  I'd give Octopink for one in a heartbeat.  Edit: NM  Saw the Clack thread and it's Gumrot.  Still one of my favorites.  I loves mine to death.

And sexy pen.  Maybe your SS will make you one.  That would be awesome.

Mm mm Good.

What color case is that? I've really wanted a Gon HHKB for a while and that case is a great color.

It's the hard anodized grey case!

Also, if you're from Chicago and you like bouldering... ever hit up Vertical Endeavors out in Wheaton???

Yeah I've been to both in the area. I used to go to the one in Warrenville every week but I was only able to get to the new one twice before I left for school. I also go to Hidden Peak when I want to train.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

We just got a new “retina” iMac. Hot damn it’s a nice display.

On the keyboard front, we sprang for the Japanese layout 60% bluetooth board (though I don’t expect a little Apple chiclet board will see too much use in practice).

I think it’ll actually be possible to make a fairly effective keyboard layout if we properly take advantage of the physical key layout of the Japanese board, by shifting the whole right hand over to the right by one column, and finding some useful purpose for the middle column thus opened up, as well as the little extra keys Japanese keyboards have to the right and left of the spacebar (actually, I think Yao might use the one to the right for space, on a layout like that, since she types the spacebar with her right thumb, and as a Vim user I suspect she’d find the left one to be an attractive spot for an esc key).

3.5u is still a bit wider than necessary for a spacebar, but it’s pretty good compared to standard US/European keyboard layouts (even good compared to the 5u spacebar on US Apple laptops).

Anyway, I somewhat regret that I didn’t get the Japanese layout keyboard for my laptop. It has a lot more useful options than the US layout, if you put a bit of thought in.
