People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

I didn't find a 'post your beam spring keyboard' thread, and was too lazy to make a new one for now - i have to do something with the keyboard first! Start tinkering, and repair everything i can. I posted some images at DT, here they are.

Or less in others.  I've shipped to people on the east coast and had it take 3 days.

Hopefully it shows up soon, I have never had to deal with shipping like that before luckily.

Got some black switches in the mail, doing my typical binning process. Sort, then recheck that all the smooth ones were properly sorted, then repeat to be super sure. I swear I am not OCD...

That's hilarious :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm glad it made it alright! I was worried about the crazy address.  :P

I sent you the Green Tea Kit Kat to introduce you to the wonders of the Japanese Kit Kat flavours. And it seems my plan worked, as you apparently enjoyed it.  :))

(And you can thank Zeal for sending me the bag of those in the first place ;) )

Oh, and something about first clack, congrats, blah blah blah.  :D  Hope you enjoy it!

A bit rough and grainy, just like the sides of the potato cap (also made by shapeways). It's hard to describe, it's a fuzzy feeling to rub your finger across it, like tiny peachfuzz. I think a couple coats of some kind of clearcoat or yellow paint to smooth it out and give it gloss might be an improvement, perhaps a future project...

Does the stem of the cheese key have the same problem as the stems on the potato key?
