So for anyone that has been talking to me they know I have been saying I had a keyboard on the way, that keyboard has now arrived, and in fashion to make myself a cool kid I will now troll you for a day before showing what it was, but heres a picture of the box.

Its a nice box

A peak at whats inside I'll post a few more tonight before revealing tomorrow when its complete

FAST = Fast eAsy STable

That might just be the dumbest acronym I've seen lately.  Not only did they just pick random letters from each word, but the acronym is part of the acronym.  Some sort of iterative acronym.

Anyway, how is the router?

Ha ha, I didn't even catch that.  ;D Taking the pic was the first and last time I looked at the box.
So far, so good. Our old setup needed an upgrade; we kept going over our data because we didn't realize the WiFi would go out. We had a crappy TP-Link router we got for free, but because of our old building with thick walls we had to get a couple of of extenders just to have it reach everywhere. With this one we get signal almost everywhere now, though I'll try and see if I can reconnect the extenders.
I'm not very good with networking; in fact, I suck and was not looking forward to setting up this new one.  ^-^

Hi five fellow nendoroid collector!

/highfive I've been meaning to post in one of the toys threads but thinking of pulling out all my scales and nendoroids is a bit much. I still haven't found a way to display anything so it leaves all my figures in their box prisons.

I think the scary part is I know what Esc are missing  Off the top there's TA, RA, Olivetti, the monkey set, Cyrillic, Ivan's GMK Miami nights which has a 2B on CR in the mod pack, the 2 from the SKIDATA+ mod pack ... Yep ... GMK Esc keys can be addicting.

it's surprisingly light for a board that size

i think my poker 3 weighs as much

ohhh nice man is that from the german seller?

how would you rate the condition

pretty good condition on the whole

some sticky keys and paint is worn off on parts of the board and maybe only 70% of the relegendables have tops

keycaps are gorgeous though with barely any shine

If you don't mind me asking, what's the point of a half plate?

Generally, half plates are used for keyboards that come in two parts and mount to the top housing of a case in order to give the PCB something to hold onto, else it won't be able to mount in the board at all. It's used to allow for PCB mount switches.

For this 60%? I dunno, I guess for wanting a plate feeling on particular parts of the board and PCB-mount elsewhere. I don't see much of a point unless you wanted to use linears for the plated part and tactiles for the PCB mount stuff.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I though you use pcb mounted switches with plates, I thought it depended on the pcb.

Also, so there's some consensuses that non-plate is better for some switches? specifically tactiles?

You can use PCB-mounted switches with plates of the PCB supports them. Generally older PCBs and a lot of more consumer-level OEM keyboards do not have PCB-mount switches, I think.

People say that plastic plates or mounting directly to the PCB is better for tactiles due to the flex it gives. I'm not sure, to be honest. I do think a rigid plate like carbon fiber or steel can be a little harsh with tactiles, so I think that's likely why flex is desired.
