Are you kidding me? I'll see my dream come true when Phillip Phillips start to sing!

This ticket is for Iron Maiden, A7X and Slayer but I'm gonna sell it. I'm too far away from Rio and don't want to spend the whole day traveling again. I have a card for Metallica's day. Will be my third concert of them.  :)

Got my first replacement keycaps in today!

Orange on Charcoal doubleshots from Originative

The KBT Race is, apparently, a nightmare for custom keycaps. The arrows, escape, delete, right shift and right control are all oddly sized. But thats okay. Because the rest looks awesome and i've got a full set of WASD blank orange keys coming, and i think i'll probably replace all the mod keys with those when they come in.

I also got a full set of blank green WASD cherry keycaps, which right now are destined to go on the Poker 2 i should be getting monday or so.

i need more keyboards....

Aren't all the odd size really just 1.25 size key caps? I'd buy a few blanks and call it a day.

Some wangs tend to curl upward, but that sort of thing can only happen from neglect and abuse.

Wow, that takes some serious force to do.  It's like they dropped it from 20' off the ground onto a corner.  Was it at least insured when it was shipped or are you out the money?

No it wasn't insured...I'm definitely not eating the cost. I've contacted the seller on ebay....hopefully we can work something out.

To be honest, my first experience was a little underwhelming.  I was expecting a completely different feeling but the more I type on it, the more i like it.  I don't know if I'm going to pawn off all my cherry stuff quite yet but it is growing on me for sure.

Yep, the aggie is right. You'll get used to it and then hate "normies."

When I first got my HHKB I LOVED the texture of the keycaps, the smooth fluid motion of the mechanics, and the Ctrl key location (UNIX, Linux.) Over a year later it's what I still like about it. Nice score badcop! Don't get rid of your cherries. Every enthusiast needs at least one of each switch style :) I'm on a BS kick right now, but I switch boards every month or so.

This, and arrow keys, are the two biggest difficulties I am having switching between a TKL layout and my HHKB.  The Backspace does actually seem to make more sense where it is on the HHKB.

But I do miss the arrow keys.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks guys. 60% is my favorite by far so the arrows don't really bother me all the much. I'm getting used to the backspace and I feel like I'm going to be remapping \ on my poker to backspace real soon.

Nope...USPS.

Damn that sucks. Buy hey, if the ebay seller gives you a full refund and lets you keep the wang board, still a win for you I'd say. Key caps and switches seem unharmed.

He isn't....he's contesting it.  So I'm going to escalate it to a claim on ebay.

all topre boards are underwhelming your first time (usually lasts a week to find the true beauty in topre)

i just wish the HHKB used realforce's 55g topres (to me, realforce and hhkb topres feel a lot different). that's the greatest switch ever. next to blues.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

After waiting two weeks for my free model M, I finally got it.  ^-^
I wanted to try the retr0bright, but after a good cleanup it seems to me the keyboard doesn't need that treatment :

Here is the before_cleanup potato pic :

I'm glad that it's working fine with my PS/2 to USB converter (unlike my Cherry which just "die" after a few sentences). Feels great typing on it, but it IS loud !
I think I prefer my white Alps keyboard, but I'm gonna give this one a try for at least a few weeks.

I think the wikipedia entry for this model could be updated, because it states 1991 as approximate date of manufacture, and this one is from 1989 (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new to this after all).

^ That's a nice clean M!  Free too - couldn't ask for more :)

Nice board, looks good after cleaning. If it's too loud, try the flossmod.

Hell yeah !
It seems the "> <" key (in ISO) isn't working tho... Everything else is fine.
Anyway, as much as I like it, I don't think I'm gonna use it as a main keyboard at home because the key-rollover is lower than my USB filco, and it's kind of annoying already  :(

Wow, that's awesome. I'm gonna try it, if it's quiet enough, I may bring it to work to replace the alps kb.

The first one, the older of the two:

And the younger one, by two years:

Now to figure out what to do with them ...

According to Wikipedia, the first one is a 52G9658, non-detachable cable (which someone has thoughtfully cut about 5cm from the case), and PS/2.

The second one is a 51G8572, detachable cable (detached and lost), and also PS/2.
