Oh my god, yes, let's do a candy trade! I REALLY REALLY want to try marshmallows but you can't get them here :(

What kind of marshmellows do you want? Like, the ones for making Smores or PEEPS? Man... fat America here has tons. o.O

damn, you young rarar, the video would be better if it visualized whats going on with jailhouse blues

--

got my first buckling spring keyboard, Model M. Going to do a teensy converter mod soon with it but right now i just have the ps/2 directly hooked up to my PC and im  typing on it right now and really.... it feels really damn good but i don't really like the sound much, i think the jackhammer way i type is combining with the normal buckling spring sound to produce a serious noise maker.

the condition of the keyboard arrived great, really great actually, other than marks on the bottom of the keyboard it has zero marks on the key caps or the keyboard on the top, lights work and no discoloration and the texture of the key caps is all fine. very happy about that

also bought a cheapo terminal rj-45 model M that may or may not be in good shape, it will probably require some serious cleaning and restoration. also doing a teensy mod with that (duh). that comes in tomorrow.

Quick question, what do you mean by visualize whats going on with them? If I take off a keycap it looks just like any normal switch, its the internals that's changed. I don't mind making another video if you want to see what it looks like without a keycap and actuating the key!

Yeah I dont feel safe disassembling the keyboard, so I wouldn't want to risk it since it's not even my keyboard.

Or the Australia set?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_colours_of_Australia
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thats actually exactly what I got.  It's a gamble really.  I paid $289 for mine from greensum and had no pixel problems at all and almost no backlight bleed.  I've seen some order pixel perfect and gotten much worse, in both categories.  A lot of the blb is fixable though either through just loosening screws, tape mods, or the worst case is having to bend the metal frame.  But I feel that even if you get a couple dead pixels it would be hard to notice on a green with so many pixels.  Hot/bright pixels on the other hand would probably be noticeable.

I think there is at least one site in the US that sells them and offers free return shipping if you have problems.  But obviously its going to cost you more.

Yep! That's my backup plan... I think I'm gonna order one of those Qnix 27"...

You should check out the OCN tips for backlight bleed and other stuff. A bunch of those guys are running them without a bezel and putting a VISA mount on them.

I already have my pump, blocks, and some fans. Now I'm waiting on my Caselabs M8 and I can't decide if I should get another 670 or jump up to a 780... Go big or go home right?
or wait for the new 8000 series amd later this year :o?  I probably need to pick something up this year as well.  I just got a 1440p monitor and my single 6950 isnt going to be enough.

I would personally go for another 670 as that should give you more preformance than a 780 for less money as Nvidia has drastically improved the preformance gains with SLI in the 600 series.

You're correct, but dat 780! Oh well... I've got to get blocks for them too, so it's a lot cheaper to sli 670s. Now I have to find another Galaxy 670 with a full size pcb...  ;D

wouldn't it be cheaper to sell the 670 with the block and get a 780 with a block? instead of buying another 670 and another block?

Also interested to know this, GON is currently pricing shipping for me on some!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

After waiting two weeks for my free model M, I finally got it.  ^-^
I wanted to try the retr0bright, but after a good cleanup it seems to me the keyboard doesn't need that treatment :

I'm glad that it's working fine with my PS/2 to USB converter (unlike my Cherry which just "die" after a few sentences). Feels great typing on it, but it IS loud !
I think I prefer my white Alps keyboard, but I'm gonna give this one a try for at least a few weeks.

I think the wikipedia entry for this model could be updated, because it states 1991 as approximate date of manufacture, and this one is from 1989 (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new to this after all).

made on 1989-10-25, I was born on 1989-10-29..so close..
