I just got my Ducky 1087. That was fast. I ordered it on Friday, and I received it here in San Francisco Bay Area today (Wednesday.)

First impressions: I'm kinda disappointed. I already have a Filco with blue switches, and I'm not really digging the Browns on this Ducky. The build quality on the Filcos is also noticeably better. I don't know how to explain it. I know they are both made by the same manufacturer, but the Filcos don't feel like they were made in Taiwan, while the Ducky definitely feels like a "Made in China" keyboard, if that makes any sense. The different feel of the Browns is probably the main reason. Noise is not an issue, so I think I'll stick with my Blues.

I'll prob put the Ducky up for sale on eBay for what I paid for it. Or give it to someone as a gift for Christmas.

ok how about some objective arguments now?

I'll have a ducky brown in my hands in the next few days and I'll compare it to my filco super blue otaku type R. From what I hear the duckys in the past were superior in every way (except maybe the chingrish).

Must have been reading wrong reviews. Build quality is definitely worse and you can tell that already by just looking at the pictures. The one WhiteRice got literally fell apart after two days.

apparently its a first batch production issue and the problem only manifests itself if tenderly loved during shipping like all duckys should be.

nevertheless, I will post some thoughts later as i will has both these boards.

Yikes. I was looking at the Ducky's but now no longer. Those little things that you showed and commented on would completely drive me insane over the long run with a keyboard.

lol we are all in cahoots.

You guys are so picky when it comes to aesthetics. I don't spend too much time looking down at my keyboard when I'm typing :P

I wish PC Home sold the white tenkeyless filco so I could finally get one.

I wonder if his rubber feet are off, mine doesn't wobble. Having to wedge a piece of paper under my keyboard would be a pretty big strike though.

Are white tenkeyless filcos still being made? Or were they a limited run?

That price is worth it to me to not have to seal spacing in the frame and rivets on the keys. Some people would fine with it I imagine, but not me. Learned that the hard way with the Adesso.

There is a motto with cars that applies to this, kind of.

Pick 2 of the 3 - Reliability, Speed, Affordable.

Same goes for keyboards - Quality, Features, Affordable.

So id just like to ask:

Is this keyboard http://global.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DCAH0X-A50476493&c=A05&tm=u#http://global.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DCAH0X-A50476493&c=A05&tm=u# the same as http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=filco_keyboards,majestouch_104key&pid=fkb104meb ?

Is the $10 shipping valid for the keyboard ? (im from australia)

And is 'tea-axis' cherry mx brown? my friend tried to tell me it wasnt..

And lastly, how do i tell if the keyboard is in stock?

I can answer these two for you.

Tea-axis is supposed to be MX Brown according to the wiki.
Quote
Brown: soft tactile (ergonomic), Actuation Force 45cN, MX1A-G. Some asian websites refer to this as the "Tea Axis" Cherry switch.

When you decide to order, you will get a page where the stock is shown for each of the items in your shopping basket. This page will appear before you have to actually order, but I don't remember the exact point when this page appeared.

In Finland the customs quite often let's package's with low value get past them. I'm hoping that happens with my order, but as a respectable citizen I will pay the customs tax if the package doesn't slip unnoticed.

I did not get charged anything on delivery by Canada Post today.  The filco keyboard had in the box a USB to PS2 adapter, puple WASD keys, a key puller and a red escape key along with another red key.  A wrist rest pad was also in the box as promised when I ordered (original link for black cherry by OP)

As an aside, I ordered from elitekeyboards on Nov 17 and pchome on Nov 22 and pchome won the race.  My elitekeyboards order just left LA yesterday with no ETA.

To put it in perspective my Think Geek order arrived the very next day after ordering.  Shame on you elitekeyboards!

EDIT: I am in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for reference

Okay, got the ducky 1087 with blues- the same one Whiterice has.  It is definitely not as heavy as the filco, nor as well-built.  If you have the extra 30$ or so, I would recommend getting a filco over ducky any day.

Postage was NT$ 1650...  yikes, that's 54$ USD.....  So no way are these deals going to last.
(it did not arrive postage due or anything like that- it cost pchome 54$)

We should start a thread about shipping horror stories.

My Unicomp package by Fedex tried to enter Canada (Mississauga sorting facility) 4 times before it was successful, each time being sent back to the Fedex sorting facility in Louisville Kentucky because customs was backed up.  I can only imagine how much airliner gas was burned to move that package around.

yah americans really only know how to send packages to themselves. I just get all my packages sent to a place nearby the border and then make a trip to get my junk! Save some bloated shipping costs which covers the fuel costs and then some. Plus some of our amerifriends won't even ship to canada, usually because we're too far away.
