Upcoming fundraising efforts
« on: Wed, 19 September 2012, 15:46:01 »
Folks,

I just wanted to give you a sneak peak at some of the things that we've been cooking up to strengthen both the geekhack community and the integrity and security of the forum itself.

First, our last fundraising efforts and an extremely generous donation by a staff member have resulted in a very large amount of highly redundant, fast storage that we can use to augment the current server platform (ie, 12-15 raw TB of enterprise disk).

Second, we have some additional ideas that will further bullet-and-future-proof the hardware and software platform at a systems level. The costs for these ideas are thankfully modest, again, largely due to donations by members of staff, but will have non-trivial monetary costs. To alleviate these, we have a number of items we'll be auctioning off for the platform fund. To give you some hints at what's upcom-

(hey, how many different small keyboards _has_ IBM made anyway? and why did they use all those darned plastic rivets everywhere?)

(hmm, i wonder what happened to the monthly GEEKHACK key -- wow, that cherry font sure is nice..)

(when i say 'click' you say..)

(i wonder, was miles davis ever into keyboards?)

Sorry, I'm easily distracted. Anyway, lots of fun stuff coming up. Stay tuned folks!

I'm thinking more along the lines of a monterey blue keyboard....Live at the 1963 Monterey Jazz Festival is a Miles Davis album.

no subtlety!

No jokes either!

Lol, sorry.  I like Miles Davis lots and did a large amount of music history and theory in high school/college, sometimes things just flow.  But at least I didn't mention his Blue period and then describe it like a wiki article...

And really, when we get to the four digit range on bid, who really "wins"?  I don't think it's the person that finally has highest bid.
