When you try a new keyboard, what do you type?

Do any of you have a standard saying that you type when you try out a new switch?

I've always used: I think this is going to be a great keyboard

I'm an optimist what can I say  :p

I always type "Hi, how are you today?[enter] [Control]+[Alt]+[Delete]" among other key strokes to put it through a test drive.

I usually type something dumb like: "This is what it is like to type on this new keyboard with Cherry MX Blues and it is not bad so far."

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

Then i try to think of something to type, but go-all-blank...
Then more APM spam.

Then i start trying typical muscle-memory combos like "ctrl+shift+leftarrow" or "alt+F4" or "ctrl+tab," and such.

Then something along the lines of "uhh... hm. I can't really think of anything i need to type, so i'm just typing this statement about how i can't really think of anything to type..."

The true test comes when you actually do have plenty to say; especially if it's something you feel strongly about, and want to get it out and down as fast as possible.

mostly just the home row with a couple off for good measure to test the slope like this:

gives me enough of a feel of the switch. it's like lorem ipsum for keyboard testing.

I wrote a lot of text editors when I was younger, as I could not find the perfect one and tried making one myself, finding out in the process how difficult it was (still searching btw).

I randomly type about the keyboard. Just my thoughts on it as they come to me. The design, the feel, what's good and bad. If it's a new keyboard, I usually go a few hundred words just to be safe. If it's not, I go until I decide whether to pass on the thing.

I do a mix of what everyone else has suggested.  I also type up lots of forum posts because that's about as natural as it can get in terms of typing feel.

Like now!  I'm on my at least 48 hours of only using my Realforce 45g to see if I really don't like topre or this specific topre.  Going from cherry blues to this is a lot less of a disappointment than going from BS to it was.

We'll see.  It's still a lot lighter than I'm used to, but I kinda dig the noise.  Maybe I'll keep my eye open for a trade for heavier switches.

The first mechanical keyboard I purchased was a used but in excellent condition Mionix Zibal from a seller on Amazon. I was so excited when I received it, but when I plugged it up, some of the keys wouldn't register. I had to send it back in for a refund.

Since then, every new keyboard I get, I type this:

"There is nothing wrong with this keyboard."

I just plug it in an use it. I give all my keyboards about 4-6 days of solid use before I decide if I like them of not. The one exception what plate mounted blues, I didn't like them one bit. I used hem for about 30 minutes and just couldn't. I forced myself to try them more but I just couldn't do it

I spend a good hour or so on my favorite typing websites doing races and such to get a good feeling for the board. Then I'll play a game of SC2, then I'll play a round of some FPS, and then I decide how I feel about the keyboard.

When I was learning to touch type in 9th grade, I was having a really rough time of it and always had trouble with the exercises. I also had just started playing guitar, and one particular morning Metallica's "Jump in the fire" off Kill 'Em All was stuck in my head. That day when I got to typing class and started the typing exercises, I realized that I could suddenly touch type and the first thing I typed was "jump in the fire". Ever since it's the first thing I type on any particular keyboard. I don't even think about it any more, it's pure muscle memory.

The first key I usually press on a new keyboard is "Caps Lock" or "Num Lock" so I can see the lights and see if the keyboard works. Then, I type in my Windows user-name and password.
