This looks surprisingly similar to what I expected the phantom to be.  What is the difference between this layout and the ANSI 125 plate thats being offered for the phantom GB?  other than this one already has a case of course.

I'm still interested, just trying to figure out what the difference is?

The 84-key or 86-key layout of the LZ-GH is the same layout as the Phantom ANSI150. There is no difference.

Only difference is this one comes with a case designed by LZ.

if it's the same, why won't it fit a phantom?

Phantom has a Teensy hanging off the back of the PCB. It's too thick to fit inside some cases.

Boost,

Not sure if this has/hasn't been suggested already but have you considered perhaps getting the cases and/or plate engraved?
As this would be a limited run of about 50 or so, I think having a serial number would give it the final touch that makes it a collectable or for people sitting on the fence to reach for their wallets.
Something like LZ-GH #01 or similar.
This can also lead to a GH thread with all owners and their customisations
LZ-GH #01 - Boost - 86key - Casecolor - MXcolor

Just something to consider.
Sorry if someones already thought of this

$340? I think I can live with that. Definitely excited for this.

And I'm all for okooko's idea to engrave a number on it. Preferably on the plate.

Yeah, I was just thinking for $340 (or 400+ assembled TYD), the owners would like some identification, if anything it'll help keep the value and rarity.
As for choosing the numbers, a fully random number generator would be a start, but with the organisers (Boost/DrugER etc) get first dibs on what they want, likely #1, #2 but im sure other will be fine with that.

I wouldn't care what number I got, it's just a cool thing to add to it. I mean, I'd definitely like to have my lucky number (11) but I wouldn't be at all heartbroken with anything else.

I think if there are any, it'll most likely be 1-50 due to the numbers actually being manufactured, but hey, its just an idea for now

Serial number is pretty cool - I'm not worried about the actual serial number but I'd prefer to see # of 50.

Maltron sign the insides of their keyboards - that would be smart.

Edit:  I think the arguments/angst/etc over specific serial numbers could be a pain.

# of 50 would be cool, but none of that other stuff. Not like they're going to be popping up on the marketplace very often, but there'd be no way I'd buy it if it had someone else's name and switch preference

I was just thinking that, possibly
  LZ - GH
#1 of 50

But tbh I think simply 'LZ-GH #1' is much better than above.
And it'll be common knowledge on GH that the first run was only 50. Future rounds can start from 51 if anything.

Once it gets going I'm sure someone will make a Post your LZGH thread where it'll have the owners specs and location just to see where in the world they are and what specs each owner has decided to go with. Also will be good for keeping the history of the KB should anyone sell it in the future (for any reason).

EDIT: We'll just wait for one of the organisers to come back with an answer before getting creative for something that may not go ahead.

WEll the ideas out the window now,

but even if it was done all together by one person after manufacture, its still pretty much the same thing.
