2x3x4mm rectangle LED's work best for fit. Probably not as much choice in color, but most of what you need:

Gee thanks for that.  Didn't know the Ebay could be the best choice yet.  Down-side is picking which colour now.

Dammit...I have a tough decision to make.  All pink with blue number row, all red with a white number row, or all green with a white number row.   Must decide soon.

I'm tempted to do magenta/aqua LEDs for the mods/spacebar, amber for the alphas/numbers, red esc, etc., costs be damned, but am not sure how much I'd miss the ability to mod switches without desoldering... decisions, decisions.

The LED's are getting soldered in before the switches?

How is this working?  Will this work with the switches from theProf's groupbuy?

All Cherry MX switches have a place for the LEDs.  The leads go through the switch and the whole thing is soldered to the PCB as one assembly.  Don't worry you're covered.

That's what I thought.  So we can't get them pre soldered since he doesn't have our switches right?

I don't understand.  If he isn't doing assembly then he isn't going to solder anything.  If he is doing assembly, then he needs your switches and he will do the LEDs at the same time.

Its my understanding that the LEDs will go on last, so you'd have to do all your modifications to springs/lube/stickers prior to it.

LED styling
« Reply #918 on: Tue, 26 February 2013, 22:54:55 »
Hi guys,

Bit of a noob when it comes to builds and since Alaric has hit the Send button on the latest LED requests, I'm hoping some veterans to come in with suggestions for LED styling.

I've flicked through all 33 pages of the "Post Your Korean Keyboard" and I've seen some inspiring setups.

Most commonly with various colored F# groups and WASD and/or arrows cluster. These look nice and simple but having full LED capabilities one would naturally want to fully untilize such functionality.

Ideas?

Currently pondering. 1xRed, 4xpink, 4xyellow, 4xgreen & 3xblue across the top row in groups. Working on the rest

Most common requests I've gotten are wasd/arrow key callouts, F-row, num-row, and highlights identical to 2-tone cap sets (for instance the CCnG set with GnCC mods).

Has anyone ever seen light green LEDs as opposed to the sort of darker green that is mostly used? I think an equivalent comparison would be blue LEDs and aqua LEDs.

I thought about Red-esc, pinkf1-4, yellowf5-8, greenf9-12 and blue print/num/pause.
and perhaps extending the pattern somehow down the board, but I dont think I can type with rainbow colors on full LED mode, going to go whites for letters.

Thanks for the LZ LED modes, that helps

Except for those people in far away lands it would be cheaper for you to lube your own switches and ship them back and forth.  Lubing is a time intensive job, and just soldering is going to suck up my free and not-so-free time pretty savagely.  Just stickering I am considering... but then again, without the lube job it's just a fashion statement, right?

Duuude, PM! :P  I'll put you down for what you said and when everyone is done inform you all of cost.  For now I just re-iterate, less than $15 for the LEDs :)  All the stuff that hasn't been paid for (like shipping these things to you will be taken care of in 1 last invoice when the boards are ready.

Understandable that some find that boring but I'm not really into colorful, all the boards with different LEDs I have seen didn't catch my eye.
The 4 LED modes offer some variation anyway.
