By "practically speaking", I meant that most of the effort to actuate the probably comes from compressing the spring--not so much from the switch friction, as there's no tactile resistance--no bumps to overcome.
Also I didn't say o-rings would make actuation easier to reach--that would not change. I did say "motion" in that exact term
My question was about the overall effect of typing on stiff linear switches where actuation takes guesswork, and one might push down farther than necessary, exerting even more force. O-rings, and particularly thicker ones, could decrease unnecessary travel distance past actuation and take out some of the guesswork, perhaps alleviating extra finger stress. Just guessing.
