If I bought the switches from MX, I wouldn't know if I need the pins or not. The options are the filco and a noppoo choc. Also, is it easy to change them? Thanks for the replies so far guys!
Both the Noppoo and the Filco are plate mounted boards, so you don't need the pins. However, if you misordered or something, you can simply cut the pins off, it doesn't really make a difference.
Changing the switches or the springs is a bit of work as you will have to desolder the switches on plate mounted boards. This will take some time, you will also have to resolder them when reassembling the keyboard.
If you just buy different springs you will also have to open each switch, but with
The_Beast's switch tools for example (currently available for pre-order, I would really recommend them if you want to get into keyboard modding) it's really easy and just takes a few seconds for each switch, opening - swapping the spring - closing takes about a minute for each switch, depending on how fast you are.
You won't have to open the the switches if you simply replace them with new switches of course, so that would a bit faster.
