What would it be? Any keyboard. Customs welcome, but you gotta be specific to the T.

I'd cherry greens with PBT thick caps. I don't care about the body.

HHKB! Thank God i don't have to make that decision. It's like making me choose which child to take out in a burning house. Shame on you for making me choose!

I'm still going with IBM Model M with custom keycaps to add color and replace the useless PrtSc/ScrLock/Pause with Mute/VolDn/VolUp.

However, I may end up wanting a GH75 with Green Switches for most; tactile Gray for spacebar, and Browns for selected mods I hit lightly with my pinkie.  And outboard of that a matching numpad (no arrows), probably Browns with a Green enter key and the plus split into a plus and an equals.  USB pass-through on one device, and Cherry-profile PBT keycaps on all keys.

Do I need to specify the Fn layer of the GH75, or is the above to a "T" enough?

This Model M.
I like keyboards and case modding.  Everything about a computer should be silent -- except the KEYBOARD!

You guys are going to force me to shell out for a HHKB.

 I think you covered it well enough. I suppose if we're specifying function layers we could be here a while.

A cherry brown tenkeyless. The brand doesn't matter so much really, just the switch type and layout. If I have to be specific I'll say Filco I guess.
Layout: Colemak
Fastest typing speed: 131 WPM on typeracer, 136 WPM on 10fastfingers.
Daily driver: Filco Tenkeyless MX Brown with ergonomically weighted, lubed springs.
Ergo keyboards: Truly Ergonomic, Kinesis Advantage, Ergodox

As long as I am strong and healthy, I want to keep using my battleship F-122 with near-ANSI mod, Teensy USB converter, and floss.

When I get old and feeble, I will probably switch to a plastic ten-key-less "toy" with reds or browns and O-rings.

IBM AT Model F with spacebar mod, teensy mod, F&J nubs, & floss mod.

I would say possibly an Industrial Model M 101 case, with Model F capacitive BS inside, with white on black PBT doubleshot caps. I don't know what a spacebar mod is, and I've never felt a floss mod, but Teensy sounds nice.

I think spacebar mod is modding it so it's not nearly as heavy. The Stock F spacebar is ridiculously heavy.  Feels almost like a MX Linear Grey

What makes it not "versatile"
Too loud for some situations, and not great for gaming because of 2KRO and hysteresis.

A GH60, aluminum case, standard ANSI 125 layout, stickered, lubed 55g ergo-clears. So basically my poker, except programable.

I'd do something crazy and custom like an 150 layout, but considering I only get one so...

I've yet to try Topre so I don't know if I'll like it over Cherry switches.

As for Cherry switches I'm split between MX Red and MX Brown.  Actually I'd probably prefer a switch that's half way between MX Red and MX Black.

My "perfect" keyboard doesn't exist yet but I'd probably want something like a backlit Filco with blue LED and white case, double shot keycaps (clear on letter on white base) and blue backplate.

But realistically?  Probably gonna wait for CM Storm QuickFIre XTL (Basically full size QuickFire with backlit).

I've wanted a switch like that for a while too.  I prefer Blacks to Reds, but Blacks are just a hair too heavy and Reds are way too light.

lol I know, Cherry need to release an official switch to fill in that gap.  Like MX Maroon or something.

I haven't tried a 55g yet but I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a RF 104U 55g, numpad at the office is too useful for me. It will also give me an excuse to try the 55g.  ;D

I would be torn apart between HHKB Pro 2 and Unicomp Spacesaver M, but eventually I'd probably go for HHKB.
I wouldn't pick any cherry because I just dislike all the MX switches in general. Wouldn't go for real IBM Model M or F because of the layout and because they're generally old and it's hard to find a one that still feels really good.

It would be my poker with treble case, ergo clears, and  beige cherry doubleshots. Or my first gen Focus 2001 if I could hack off the number pad easily.
If you live in AZ you can try my keyboards. I usually keep plenty of different ALPS and MX and buckling springs.
