Geekhack Fighting Games
« on: Thu, 18 July 2013, 15:45:12 »
Does anybody here play fighting games that I could play with to improve?  I just started maybe a week ago and would like to train with people.  I realize places like shoryuken exist but why go there except for information when I have a more welcoming community here.  I have

Injustice
SSFIV:AE
UMvC3

My XBL name is Patchw0rks if anybody plays or would like to!

If there are enough people this thread could become a hub for people looking to play.

I love fighting games. Spent last weekend watching Evo. Watching Justin Wong just turn it on and beast his way to 2nd place was one of the cooler moments in competitive video games.

Unfortunately, I don't play at a competitive level at all. I used to play a ton of MvC3 but I don't even have Xbox Live now. I mostly play for fun with friends and at arcades.

And I see BunnyLake play SSF4 all the time on Steam, I bet he's nasty.

I'm still thinking about picking it up on PC BunnyLake if you'd want to practice with a noob sometime.

also CPTBadAss my girlfriend and I were going ballistic when Wong beat Chris G and FChamp was taken out.

Personally I'm a huge fan of the Guilty Gear games. I love the art style and how really different all the characters are.

Sadly these aren't online. I think fighting games online leave much to be desired, because of the latency issue.
i type, therefore i geekhack

Still fire Marvel vs Capcom 2 on my Dreamcast occasionally. The epitome of the vs games imo. Also Guilty Gear, Blaze Blue, Soul Calibur, and Streetfighter 4(which apparently is a great party game.) Not to mention the KoF '95/2000 and Samurai Spirits II games for the Neo Geo, but I always feel nervous playing it because it's like a rare gem. Someday I'll get my hands on a copy of Last Blade II AES cartridge.

I used to play BF3 a lot on my PS3 - but then I  got that useless felling after playing for about 12 hours straight that I was becoming one cold coffee zombie ...

Don't play any fighting games.  I played brawl for a bit with friends who used to hold tournaments and we held one when I was still at Virginia Tech.  I think it was like 32 people entered and it was a double's tournament.  And recently I tried to play persona 4 arena and I learned how hard it was to try and do combos and such so I gave up after spending like 4 hours in training/challenge mode just trying to learn combos.

I have MvC3 and SSFIVAE for Xbox 360 if you want to play. I'm not that good though and still getting accustomed to my Hori HRAP VX lol.
