In love with my Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse...
« on: Thu, 25 July 2013, 21:07:16 »
Had one for 7 years until it finally died a few years ago. Tried a few newer mice but found I was sloppy with them, so ordered another one of these. Lucky they're pretty easily available on eBay.

I'm even so attached to this mouse I had to get the one with the grey cord... lots of them appear to have (disgusting) black cords instead....

But I have a few questions....

First of all, this mouse is quite small for me, I've always used it just with the front of my hand and my wrist rests or slides on the table behind it. Pinky doesn't fit on the mouse either. Is this normal or if it's considered bad mouse posture?

Second, I'm curious about side buttons. Sometimes I miss them.... Does anyone know if MS made the exact same shaped mouse with side buttons? I've been looking at pictures of the Intellimouse 1.1 on google images and wondering if it's the same or just very similar.

My favorite mouse, too, except for the Wow Joy Pen.

I have at least one in each color. When I run across a used one in good condition for cheap, I snag it.

Having a big butt to push around the the heel of my palm makes it easy to use with big hands.

I hate side buttons, I don't use them, and when I have them on a mouse, accidentally pushing them can be disastrous.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

I still have mine.  It's my backup mouse.  I love it to death and it's going strong something like 10 years later.

Sold mine about a week ago. Maybe if it was smaller and with higher-sensitivity sensor...

If the plastic becomes shiny and sticky due to wear, use sandpaper. 600 worked great for me. However, I didn't try how long it would last.
