I've seen my share of really idiotic posts @ /r/mechanicalkeyboards. The mods kinda set the tone and the people just follow.

It was either DT or geekhack and I preferred the colour scheme here... That and I think I wanted to get rid of the stock keycaps on my qfr.

I joined to find out where to get MX Greens for my Phantom IIRC.

I knew even then that they were the perfect typing switch for me.

I think I got one or two keyboards before I joined but I did so much research before then. The BWU was just jaw dropping with all the lights and all. Though I was well informed with all the malfunctions, it was my second keyboard.

It's just a pathetic mess..i don't want to begin here
i wish i would have written it down somewhere, i've had a few rants in #gh about it
i guess i like to think of it as a portal or somewhere nice and soft to start out
associating it with yourself once you start to take the hobby serious and involve yourself, and work towards the 'enthusiast' title, at that point, it's not something you want to do, or be proud of

I don't really see the problem.  There's always a variety of knowledge about stuff and there needs to be more experienced people to inform the less knowledgeable.  Some people just prefer to be helpful.  You yourself have posted on there just weeks ago, so I don't see the need to chastise others who visit it as well.  Iirc you were complaining about how you didn't get enough karma for your julysicles.

Most of those posts are pictures of keyboards with far too many Clacks on them ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
