My plan B would be to ask one of the case guys to just make me a case/plate for this. But I really hope this will happen one day.

depends on how quickly I can pick up the layout.  i will most likely travel with it as my road warrior...

i suspect I am going to have some issues coding with it because of the requirement of Fn for stuff like ;, ', ", {, }, (, ), etc...

only time will tell.

Pretty excited about this.  I have 3 or 4 different Fn/Fn2 layers in the plans.  Trying to figure out what is going to make the most sense once my fingers are on that board.  If I can figure out a way to code on that board I would be VERY happy...  All those special characters are going to be a bit tricky I think, but I just need to find one good FN layout which suits my brain.

I should have all of the parts sometime next week for those who want to be beta testers.  Those pesky atmegas were illusive.  I think it'll be ~$20-25 for everything but switches.  As of right now, there are 10 available.

I hope to be able to supply instructions for building your own case DIY style. It should be very affordable to do.

I ordered enough components for each of the boards so I can provide the atmega32u4, usb, reset switch, diodes, caps, resistors, crystal... all those bits.

The main things everyone will have to supply for themselves will be switches, stabilizers, cases and LEDs.   That said, I do have some LEDs and through-hole resistors (for those LEDs) but limited choices if you don't want to supply those on your own.

Thanks, I am going to have to think about this. I have never done SMD soldering and I just found out this morning that the shipping for a group buy I am in right now is going to cost considerably more than I was anticipating.

Good point, I can solder (arguably), program, construct cases, have the components but not sure what parts you are looking to test specifically.

My plan was to put everything needed into a box, and send that out: PCB, atmega, mini usb, crystal, caps, resistors, diodes...  I have some leds as well and could include appropriate resistors if people want to pick from the colors that I happen to have (blue, green, orange, I believe) - there are only 6 LEDs supported natively, the other 34 would have to have some kind of accessory board to operate.

Testing would involve... building it, making sure it works?  There are only 2 places with alternate key locations.  I intend to also test using the expansion pads (on the right side of the board) to add in a keypad to the matrix.

Maybe document what problems, or whatever you find along the way that could be fixed?  That's all that comes to mind right now. 

Now I need to ping Metalliqaz to make sure this version get supported in his firmware.
The only thing I don't have are switches.

I am assuming that only the kits labeled with something like the following would not be price fixed.

Rebates for larger orders:

• 2x 95%
• 3x 90%
• 4x 85%
• 5x 80%
• 6x 75%

I do not see that associated with the black 40% kit...

The "Rebates for larger orders" only apply if you order multiples of the same set, AFAIK.  For the most part, the prices are fixed.  But, there were several sets that were added only recently, so their prices are still in flux.  And actually, several of them aren't meeting the MOQ, so they may get cut...
