I like those matching screws and stickers - really nice finishing touches :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Here is my new GON skinny with some temporary stealth caps! I built it using a custom black pcb from the recent group buy and besides some shoddy soldering (my soldering station broke mid way through) it turned out great!

Looking at the pictures on this thread, I found at least one keyboard of each color anodization except for blue. So I just took it upon myself and order my own GON in blue aluminum  :p

Using 55g lubed/stickered blacks. Not sure if I'd recommend anyone to ever sticker though. Took way too long for what little benefit it provides.

Does anyone have pictures of the Orange Side-LED in action?!

I'm wanting to order a board, but I'm worried about the shade of the LED colours not matching.

I posted this on the most recent NerD 60 PCB GB page but....

The product page on GON's website states that the NerD NS 60 Crystal will be compatible with Wireless... which suggests that a 60% NerD NS Crystal is in the works????

Sent a message to GON to confirm, and if this turns out to be true, the Crystal 60 will be my first GON!

Doesn't the acrylic housing support wireless? The module is just attached onto the PCB. I thought it just wouldn't work on the NS housing.

I don't think that's true... unless you are referring to his assembly options.

Acrylic housing should work with wireless, since I'm pretty sure the bluetooth signal can get through acrylic as opposed to the aluminum from the NS housing.

I have a feeling the wireless 60 with acrylic case is going to be insanely popular, I won't be able to resist

Acrylic case is already out. doesn't work with wireless.

You must mean the Crystal (polycarbonate) case  :thumb:

Did you really just ignore what I said about the acrylic case? Do you really think that GON has a special wireless module that will ONLY work with his Crystal housing? You're really deluded, and need to use your head a bit.

Perhaps they're not talking about the housing blocking transmission, but the case not fitting the PCB and wireless module.

Well in that case I'm an idiot and misunderstood. I'm not 100% sure about the clearance size of the wireless module.

Anyone know if GON has addressed that acrylic case with wireless anywhere?

LOL....

I'm just going to ignore what happened because this is something that I am sure many others would like to know.

The NerD 60 PCB v2.0 and TKL PCB v2.0 product pages specifically state that the acrylic cases are NOT COMPATIBLE with the wireless controllers he offers. At the moment the ONLY cases available from GON that support his wireless controllers are his polycarbonate Crystal cases.

TKL:

60:

Feel free to draw your own conclusions with regard to why they aren't supported.

Here are my top two theories:

1. GON sprinkles translucent powdered unicorn horns in the acrylic plastics he uses for his acrylic cases to improve the feel of the case and to increase exclusivity. Unfortunately, as we all know, unicorn horns are slightly metallic and cause the GON acrylic housings to act like Faraday cages, thus blocking Bluetooth signal completely and lending to the incompatibility of the acrylic cases with GON's wireless controller.

2. The acrylic case was engineered to super tight tolerances before the 2.0 PCBs were designed and thus can not physically accommodate the wireless versions of the new PCBs without serious modifications.

Good day.

TLDR:
GON's current Acrylic cases are incompatible with the wireless versions of the NerD 2.0 PCBs.

This post deserves a blowjob!

Very nice - good black/orange contrast!
