You should define if it is a blank or a skull and if blank which row. The skulls should be a bit more heavy, cause the skullface is on top of the normal keycap.

This information needs to be in a table. Keeping up with slashes and following the different lengths as things get added will be a nightmare.

Someone got stock cherry caps (ABS and POM), zinc caps, or some aluminum spacebars to measure?
I got Jelly POMs and a 1st gen Hammer titanium spacebar, but lack the stuff mentioned above...

I was wondering...why not also include pictures for the type of available cap, including the source/period in which is was created/produced. For newer members like me, it might interesting to know what key caps were made where, and when, etc...

It would be like a key cap compendium. All names, pics, dates, and stats collected here, etc...

Since the weight is spread out over a fairly wide area, I imagine that it wouldn't actuate the switch, but would be an incredibly light spacebar.

As ComradeSniper wrote, the force needed for actuation will decrease somewhat, the key will feel lighter...
We estimated that probably only a "thick style" stainless-steel spacebar would be enough to get anywhere close to self-actuation ;)

I don't mind helping/researching if we decide on a way to collect and disseminate the information in a digestible way. I'm interested to learn and see all the options from years gone by. It'd be a good experience and source of information for people, as well we use the community's collective knowledge and experience for itself.

That's cool! Perhaps you could setup some sort of "catalog" where we enter:

- Production year
- Manufacturer
- GB handler / Seller
- Production #
- Original Price
- Material
- Profile
- Mugshot

New key-sets could be entered easily each time a GB is done...
For older ones we need to do some research and talking (ie. permission to use images).

Perhaps we should start by thinking up some standard for submissions...
Which info? Formatted in which way? What should images show? How? Resolution and framing? Etc. etc.

Hmm. Not home at the moment, but I can throw some simple code together to host on my site and that can be a place to enter everything.

Should get back tomorrow, and we can try to hash out more details over the next little bit.

Ok, started taking images...
Let's do 800x800 for single caps, 1200x800 for spacebars or wide keycap arrangements!

A analog caliper should work... ^^
Mainly interested in thickness (walls) and height (bottom to highest point).
