The blue typing sound is simply louder than the talks in this forum.

By the way, blue is 2nd most liked switch in GH, after brown.

MX Blue are among the most popular switches with beginners to mech boards. I'd say they offer what people tend to expect when purchasing a mech board if they're using it for typing. I know that's how I felt initially. Since trying other switches after using MX blue I have started to like others. It's not that they're not popular. People just refine their tastes over time and choose new things. I still like MX blues, but my only Cherry MX board at the moment has browns. Over time people either get annoyed with the noise, or just start to prefer the feel of different switches.

Blues were my first, but after trying a myriad of different switches, Cherry MX and otherwise, blues are still my favorite. They're the perfect weight and the tactility is just enough. MX Whites might be my favorite if they were consistently clicky, but of the batch of 65 I received only 80% click and from what I hear this is a common issue, so MX Blues remain the winner for me.

Pfff. Some people try other switches and decide it was really blues all along that they loved, or more specifically, vintage blues ;)

I've always admitted MX blues to be one of my favorite switches next to Topre. They're what I use at home and at work when no one is in the office

Many will like blue for its tactility. That's why people go for mechanical, aren't they? For the tactile feel.

Once upon a time, Blues.
Now I eat them for breakfast. Greens, Whites or GTFO. (They're Blue's bigger, stronger brother.)

Plus anyone bothered by me on Greens or Whites pretty much begs me to go back to buckling spring after less than a week. ;)

Blues all the way here. One of the most popular mantras on this site about switches is:

 * It is all down to personal preference.*

So any apparent unpopularity could be put down to that too, just a few vocal proponents for the other switches. For example, if you counted the content of the most emphatic posts, you might think that 98% of this board use an Ergodox with MY switches, rather than it just being one empty vessel and a troll :)

I like Blues but I can't seem to want to part from Topre 45gs a la FC660C.

Greens have an amazing click/thock sound similar to Topres when seated under some nice PBT keycaps.

Given that the Blue (and corresponding Green spacebar variant) is the only clicky key (ignoring the rare White) I think it's fair to say that clicky keys are not the most popular. Compare to non clicky where we have the Browns, Reds, Blacks as the popular and easily available variations.

I've typed on Browns for 15 years and didn't even know it, until somewhat recently as this information has become more popular. I wasn't aware of the key bump either, I just knew I liked the keys. The Reds don't work for general use for me, but I love them for gaming. There I have to type so far and so frequently the light linear is the easiest on my hands (I use a Red TECK keyboard for that).

For Blue's I have a rare TECK Blue that I snagged on the one run that they did. I don't use it regularly though, at work it would annoy everybody around me and at home it would annoy my son who games in the office. I think sometimes thought that the Blue might do well on my "media" computer (the one used for social networking, email etc). The clicky noise might encourage me to not spend a lot of time on it :)

Fashion and hype clouds which switch appears to be mostly used.  I prefer Blues but built my KMAC with Greens (at the start of the green trend) and I think Clears are on an upward tick at the moment.  <-Note opinion ignores boutique switches as vitage blacks and ergo clears .... .

Blues are very popular, but everyone has tried and they have been discussed so much already so there is not much use talking about them.

Way back on this forum, when it was possible for a normal user to create a Poll topic, we used to have recurring "What is your favourite switch" polls.

I love blues, looking to try greens soon.
( though at work I use reds due to the dbl tap issue )

Though I hate browns ( yuck )

And clears just don't seem that exciting to me
I want full click or straight linear

and blacks are starting to interested me for my work board since I slam on the keys in single, dub, and tripple taps ( very confusing design software custom settings )

My favorite keyswitches (that I have tried) in descending order:

And plus I own two keyboards with Blues... so yeah, I love Blues.

I never got the impression that blues were not popular in comparison to the other common Cherry MX switches like browns, blacks and reds.

But of course, people tend to talk more about less common switches, since there is more to talk about. They are less available and can be more expensive for one, which is enough to fuel endless discussions about them. The fact that they are not quite as common will see to it that people who have them like to talk about them.

Blues are generally not liked by those who prefer buckling spring or alps, among the MX fans it's not really less popular than most other switches. It's just that many prefer the clicky action of BS and alps over blues, a common argument being that the blue click is harsher and that the tactile action is better on the other clicky boards. Personally I don't like my switches making noise, I had a board with blues that I used for typing sometimes, but that was mostly for the novelty of it.

Blues are awesome, but they make the most noise. Reds are really nice because they are as light as blues, but very quiet. I wish I could make reds smoother tho.

If you can, try greens before purchasing.  Loud like blues, but take more force to push.  I tried keyboards with blues (limited testing, just at computer stores where they had already been abused) after using a Model M for a long time, and they just didn't feel that great.  Kind of soft.  Not good enough of a feeling to switch from BS.

Greens aren't a 1:1 match for BS, nothing is, but they feel better than blues, at least to me.

Everything else just felt...worse than blues!  Maybe I need to give them a better try.

I still want to try whites, to compare to the greens, but I gave up on getting "quieter" for coworkers.  I'm not using a BS keyboard, so everyone is happy.  Greens are quiet compared to BS!

They seem to be popular in this thread.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
