Swearing in posts is auto-moderated unless you have the swear filter turned off.  I have mine turned off so when I say **** **** ****ity **** it shows up as that instead of **** **** ****ity ****.

That gave me a good ol' sensible chuckle.

So going back to a couple(?) pages ago, it bothers me how few people can spell the word "brake."

I'm pretty sure that's not one of those "words that Americans spell wrongly intentionally so that schoolkids don't have to think so much."
That's another thing that bothers me slightly but mainly I'm bothered by   break !== brake   right now.

I said brake a ton and had one typo but yes there were several others. What words do we intentionally spell wrong?

Tyre annoyes me now I went to the trouble of looking up why it even exists as a spelling of the word tire.
TLDR: tyre is wrong tire is right.

I'm tyred of that argument. :(

FWIW I see no valid reason why tyre and tire shouldn't both be spelled the same way, but they're not. I guess it's tradition, or something.

About your wife's bike?
yep.

Have they not gone through the CCTV or anything?

Thieves are stupid, I bet you will see it riding around the place in the next few weeks.
No, the police have not. Even though they said they will. Twice.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

So it turns out the topic of British versus US spelling differences is a really interesting read on Wikipedia.

Long story short, the American language came first and then the British borrowed it from us. The convention of referring to the language as simply English comes from a shortened form of the full name English American, used to differentiate it from the original dialect. The original spellings were the American versions, such as color and favorite. The British added the extra letters later because they still practiced slavery after the American Emancipation and they wanted to make it harder for their uneducated slaves to spell, and thus prevent them from organizing revolts via written correspondence.

"Bring the armour. We're going to kill these white people."
"The what?"
"The armour!"
"Are you trying to say armor?"
"**** it, we'll keep being slaves."

But it was sunny! Admittedly I was working... But it was sunny!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

we had a bit of sun, i swear

Right but the fact you do and that your bosses boss knows you do, can only be a net positive for you in the long run tho right?

My lovely windows desktop is starting to have weird issues and I haven't the time to dedicate an entire day to reinstalling the OS & reconfiguring it, so I'm stuck with a system that is annoying my greatly until finals week is over and I can go home and not worry >~>

:(  That's awful.  You've gone a week with a broken foot before having it properly diagnosed?  That's intense!

I feel like flip is a useless piece of software.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Haha, I got it diagnosed on Saturday, but still. It didn't hurt that bad, and the swelling went down a lot which is why it took me so long to get to a real doctor and get an xray.

Guy pulled out in front of me from a parking lot and stopped.  Didn't have enough room to stop and hit him.  Messed up my front bumper on my car that's not even a year old.  Start of a wonderful week.
