Don't forget that you should NOT open them before Christmas guys!

I hope people are marking these as secret santa gifts because I get random stuff all the time...

I wrote "Do not open! Radioactive Material!" on mine. I hope it gets through customs and the recipient doesn't get arrested on christmas.

This could be an interesting turn out  :))

But it's only a joke. Only sheep poo and old magazines inside.

I was rather paranoid about writing secret santa on the parcel because it could also translate to 'presents inside', and be a marker for anyone in the system looking for a random parcel to steal.

well at least in the USA all letters/packages are Xrayed and stored in a database.
So if it is presents inside, they'll be seen already =D

I doubt anyone would take something marked "secret santa".  95% of packages marked that contain a novelty tie or mug.

My mother is manages a post office where she lives and let me tell you, she had a carrier who didn't deliver all the mail that day so took it home (to finish delivering it the next day), the carrier didn't open any mail or anything but my mother had to fire her immediately for removing any mail off the premise, i.e. mail truck or post office. If the carrier had just stated she didn't finish they could have brought it back to the office and everything would have been fine but instead she got fired. It would take a lot of guts to steal mail. Not saying it doesn't happen but as an employee your would be nuts to try it. highly likely to have jail time.

now someone noticing a package on your doorstep with secret santa is a whole entirely different story. :)

Probably why we are tracking them this year. Also why some went missing last year (apparently).

In the US, you can actually get serious punishments for messing with the mail. In this country and much of the rest of the world it is another matter. A quick google search shows that three of the worst cases got sentences between 2 and 14 months, and that about 400 people a year are sacked for stealing from the Royal Mail. The 14 months guy did have to move in with his mother because his flat was full of stolen post, but he only spent the gift vouchers, not the credit cards or cheques.

I'm not sure how things in Brazil work, but I'm pretty sure they steal things, specially in customs, if they have no tracking.

For instance the V1 shotgun key that Bunny sent :(

Yes, I don't send anything anymore straight to me. It's better to pay the proxy like 60 dollars to send me everything with tracking than to have my things stolen :|

no offense Ics, but your countries customs/import companies are corrupt as hell.
I routinely turn away business requests for shipping to Brazil because of this matter.
I've had a container basically held hostage until I paid a $500 service fee to pick it up from the pier.

As one of the owners of www.kiteaid.com (kite surfing industry), I end up sending a lot of stuff to Brazil.  We opened a distributor there and wow it was complicated.  The import taxes you guys have to pay are crazy.  Combine that with customs and its pretty hard to import stuff into Brazil.

You don't offend me at all :)

I know :( It's very sad the great amount of corruption that goes here.

Yes, it's pathetic. The worst thing is that we have to pay all those taxes and we get nothing. But this is not the place to discuss this, supposed to be a happy thread :)

Aaaaaand it will be picked up Monday since the courier that came today did not have a scale.
