Anyone in Johannesburg, South Africa
« on: Thu, 12 December 2013, 15:12:09 »
I'll be going to Jo'burg, South Africa on 23rd and will be there for about a month and half. Anyone there or closeby.

There are no members here on GH from India, so was really wishing I could get to meet someone in person while in South Africa.

I think there are a couple of other people too, but they just come down for recommendations and then leave, noone active as far as I know.

MOZ is setting the standard.
Hopefully a good one.

Quick estimate of my trips shows I've traveled about 11000KM to visit GeekHackers this year. Please get on my level :P

Seriously though, post some pictures man :D.

I'm from SA, but staying in Finland now.

Internet in SA is slowly getting better, but a lot of the people I know there don't stay logged in due to having data caps. Just log in for specific stuff and maybe browsing for an hour or two.

The physical connections are all served by a single, government-affiliated company which drastically overcharges for line rental and data costs which is why the service providers have to have data caps. And mobile data isn't cheap either.

Anyhow, good luck with the trip and have fun! Enjoy Cape Town if you do manage to get down there, it's a great place.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Sounds very similar to India! :))

I might be visiting my dad around that time in Jo'burg. We tend to go down to Durban rather than Cape though.
