Trying to find a comic that was posted here once ago...
« on: Mon, 03 March 2014, 22:37:57 »

It was something about women in tech maybe?  Or women online in a predominantly male community (this may have been around the time I officially "came out" as female in response to some incorrect assumptions, or maybe I just think it was because I could relate to the concept illustrated within) but the basic idea represented in a few panels where:
1) a woman joins a group of men who are talking about interesting/substantive/intelligent things, ("Science!" "Philosophy!" "Ideas!") attracted by the stimulating conversation
2) conversation immediately loses quality upon her joining the group and becomes "BOOBS!" instead
3) woman leaves in disgust and sees women chatting in a group to join instead and is welcome without having to deal with lecherous slobbering
4) woman is bored to tears with conversation ("KIDS!" "Makeup!" "Home decor!")  and leaves frustrated
5) woman has inspirational idea
6) woman wearing fake mustache participates in stimulating conversation "Science!" "Philosophy!" etc.    =)

Can anyone point me at that comic strip again?  I may have it on a hard drive somewhere, but I have no idea where to start looking since I didn't save it with a useful filename if I did think to save it at all....

I think Kishy or Welly or Webwit maybe posted it?  Or at least were part of the discussion... Naturally Ripster would also be a likely suspect, and I'm almost positive it was when he still had the GeekGirl avatar that I will forever associate with him till the end of time.  (All of his posts were read aloud in my own head in the competent and feminine voice I imagined she would have - even after the avatar was gone, the voice remained.)

I don't remember that one.

Sounds like it could have been Tom Tomorrow.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Sounds like it could be SMBC.

Can you remember what the art style was like?

I've seen the artwork style elsewhere as well: simple line art, black pencil line stick figures for people kind of stuff - minimal coloring which is limited to pastel and soft hues like pink and sky blue instead of red and royal, not much detailed color at all, but blocks or simple solid geometric shapes and I don't think the faces had any detail at all - A smiley emoticon like these  :) :(  are more sophisticated than the heads and features on the characters in the panel...

Sort of like Allie Brosh stuff but more neatly contained and subdued, if that makes any sense...

Come to think of it, it MIGHT have been xkcd  - or very similar style to that, if not...

Style certainly sounds like xkcd, I can't think of a lot of strips that have similar art styles. xkcd doesn't really have any colouring though.
