Can you remap the ctrl and Caps lock on a Realforce 104ub-dk?
« on: Wed, 05 March 2014, 19:25:02 »
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew how I would go about doing that. I much prefer to have my CTRL right next to my pinky. Thanks.

AutoHotkey for Windows, xmodmap for Linux.  Not sure about OS X but I'm sure it's possible.

No dip switches nor programibility means nope. This goes for pretty much any board without dip switches and programibility--even some with dip switches choose not to add this feature :-\

Are there no dipswitches on fullsize RFs? I know there are on TKLs.

I know the High Profile keyboard doesn't have DIP switches... all of them should have some at their price points.

As someone already referred use Sharpkeys and any board hooked to your computer will have the control key where you defined. If you are using more than one computer you can set all in the same way it is fairly easy, and due to the registry approach latency is close to zero.

Just cut trace on PCB and patch with soldering wires.

Why mess with the hardware, if there are very good software solutions? Just wondering.

Because solder doesn't forget new key-mappings.  (just like patch cables don't forget their VLANs.)

[edit]
To be less flip about it, if you modify the hardware, then no matter what computer you plug that keyboard into (or OS you boot)  -- the re-mapping is retained.

I like keyboards and case modding.  Everything about a computer should be silent -- except the KEYBOARD!
